Nauwkeurige ziektemodellen en beter geneeskunde door de menselijke fysiologie en pathologie in een 3D-model

Over ons

The study by Kacey Ronaldson-Bouchard et al., demonstrates how early-stage iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes can be 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. This is a novel approach to developing human cardiac tissues that exhibit adult-like heart #muscle characteristics. By subjecting these #tissues to increasing physical conditioning, the team achieved a level of maturation previously unattainable. This breakthrough has profound implications for studying heart diseases, drug testing, and potential therapeutic applications. The research was particularly interesting for Bi/ond to find about, as our muscle platform including pillars and electrical stimulation, aligns perfectly with the methodologies discussed in this paper. As you probably know we are involved in research studies about #Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (#DMD) using our organ on chip technology. We have successfully created #3Dmodels that mimic muscle status and reactions to drugs and stimulation. In what other clinical setting would you use our functional muscle (or which one are you already busy with)? Please add in the comments if your answer is not available to vote on - unfortunately, there are only 4 options possible to poll on. And if you are interested in what we have done for DMD, please check here https://lnkd.in/eqBVWJuq or get in contact with our team: https://lnkd.in/g3pKFHm

Bi/ond - together with the Dompé foundation - was proud to support Davide Carta’s research on the retinal vascularization on-chip model and his participation in EUROoCs24. The event allowed us to share our progress and gather valuable feedback and advice for further refining the model. We look forward to more opportunities like this where we directly, or through our collaborators, can showcase the advancements of the model. If you have any questions about Davide's research, please reach out to him or to us directly : https://lnkd.in/g3pKFHm. We will be happy to coordinate the discussion.

Two weeks ago, the EUROoCs24 meeting took place. I expected to find experts in Organ-on-Chip models and researchers pushing the boundaries of non-animal models for drug testing, and I wasn't disappointed. The event spanned three days of talks and poster presentations from both peers and distinguished scientists, and I was thrilled to add my small contribution. A particular highlight for me was the keynote from Professor Dan Dongeun Huh and BIOLines, showcasing an eclectic portfolio of models and approaches. What I didn't expect was the significant emphasis on standardization and reproducibility, along with the shared commitment towards bridging the gap between research and pre-clinical testing, making NAMs (New Approach Methodologies) accessible not in the future, but today. #EUROoCS24 #OoC
