Every day, women experience health inequities and this has created a dire health gap, affecting women around the globe. 🏥🌍 A new report by McKinsey & Company, just released at #WEF Davos, looks at this health gap. "The women’s health gap correlates with women living in poor health for 25% more of their lives than men do. Closing the women’s health gap could yield 75 million disability-adjusted life years annually—the equivalent of adding seven healthy days per year per woman—and unlock $1 trillion in annual global GDP by 2040," says the report. Addressing the women's health gap will not only improve individual lives and well-being, but it will also create significant economic benefits globally. "The new report by McKinsey confirms our message: invest in women!" says Simone Brummelhuis in her post about the report's release. "Investors, businesses, governments, philanthropies and universities have a key role to play in investing in women’s health. "The underfunding of female founders in Europe is not just a gender issue; it’s an economic and social missed opportunity," says a recent Tech.eu article highlighting the funding gap for #FemaleFounders in Europe. 👇 Female-founded companies in Europe receive only a fraction of the total VC funding. In 2023, they only got 2.8% of all the venture capital funding. 💸 With women leading 20-30% of new startups across Europe, according to the article, this is a HUGE funding gap and hampers innovation on this continent. Hold up! Amidst these depressing stats, there are some positive trends that we should highlight. ✨ 🗺️ Sweden is leading the crowd and 15% of its local VC funding goes to female-led companies. 💶 2024 saw some significant investment rounds for female-founded companies. 👩🦰 Female angel investors now represent 24% of all angel investors in Europe. 💰 More and more funds (🙋♀️ Borski Fund!) are focused on fighting this gender gap and aim to address these imbalances by fostering more female investors and backing women-led startups. But there's so much more that needs to happen. Diverse teams have been shown to outperform homogeneous ones and by funding female-led companies, we usher in more innovation, fresh ideas and different priorities within companies. We believe that a trend of more female funding can positively impact everyone. 💪📈 Here at Borski Fund, we are proud to support female founders and female-oriented products. We also work hard to increase the number of female voices in the investing world.
