We had a blast teaming up with Fenwick & West and The Female Founder Collective on yesterday's TECH WEEK by a16z event. Amplifyher Ventures portfolio founders Deepica Mutyala and Nell Diamond shared their remarkable founder journeys with a room packed with awesome founders and funders. We're not always into bite-sized take-aways, because it often leaves out room for nuance, but here were a few high-level principles from our partner Meghan to keep in mind: 1. When should you raise institutional capital? When you *really* believe it's necessary to give up 20% of your company in order to do so. 2. Should you really "ask for advice" when you want an investment? Contrary to the age-old saying, no, not necessarily. Run a process, and own your process. Definitely build relationships and ask for advice along the way - especially with angel investors in your domain. Those relationships can turn into investments. But don't be afraid to run a process and be assertive about it. 3. What is product-market fit, really? It varies, of course; but here's one rule-of-thumb: If your customers are showing real engagement and organically spreading the word on your behalf, then you're on to something. Take the metrics you have at your disposal, and weave them into your story. (And let's set up a one-on-one chat if you want to dive into some benchmarks specific to your industry and stage.) Thanks to everyone who joined the convo!

Today, Gameto is thrilled to announce the close of our $33M Series B fundraising round, led by Two Sigma Ventures and RA Capital Management, with participation from existing investors Insight Partners, Future Ventures, and BOLD Capital Partners, amongst others. This round brings our total capital raised to date to $73M. Our investor group is also joined by Ingeborg Investments, Amplifyher Ventures, Stacey Bendet Eisner, Founder, CEO, and Creative Director of alice + olivia, and Chelsea M.R. Hirschhorn, Founder and CEO of Frida. This round will be crucial in supporting Gameto through the Phase 3 trial of our lead product candidate, Fertilo, that reduces the number of hormone injections needed in IVF or egg freezing cycles by maturing eggs in a dish. We hope to initiate the Phase 3 trial following completion of final manufacturing and assay qualification requirements. Outside of the US, this funding will continue to support the commercial launches of Fertilo in Australia and Latin America. We are honored to have added the support of the teams at Two Sigma, RA Capital, and others to our stellar investor base, and we’re pleased to see recognition of the pressing need for modern treatments in the historically underfunded women's health space, despite a challenging market. Thank you to everyone who has supported us up to this point. Learn more about the Series B funding and how this will amplify our work at Gameto: https://lnkd.in/eBCEdfg4 In this next phase of our company, we are expanding our team and are searching for a Head of Commercial Operations, Chief Medical Officer, and a Science Writer. Amplifyher Ventures is excited to announce its investment in Gameto. Dina and her team are paving the way for a more accessible, efficient and transparent future in women's health, starting with IVF and egg freezing. Thank you to existing Amplifyher portfolio founder stacey bendet for introducing us to Dina and the team!
I am excited to share that Gameto has closed a $33M Series B fundraising round, led by Two Sigma Ventures and RA Capital Management, with participation from existing investors Insight Partners, Future Ventures, and BOLD Capital Partners among others. Our investor group is also joined by Ingeborg Investments, Amplifyher Ventures, Stacey Bendet Eisner, Founder, CEO, and Creative Director of alice + olivia, and Chelsea M.R. Hirschhorn, Founder and CEO of Frida. This funding brings Gameto’s total capital raised to date to $73M. We are honored to have added the teams at Two Sigma, RA Capital, and others to our stellar investor base, and we are pleased to see increased investor confidence in our platform technology and a recognition of the pressing need for modern treatments in the historically underfunded women's health space, despite a challenging market. I believe that each small step we take in investing in women’s health can lead to a giant leap in medical breakthroughs and innovation. A fundraising round is not a milestone per se but a way to continue amplifying one’s work. I strongly believe that Gameto has strong foundational science, promising data, and a highly driven team and I am very excited about using these funds to continue amplifying our hard work. These funds will support our late stage clinical development in the United States, post-market surveillance outside the US, and the creation of a commercial operations function for our lead product candidate, Fertilo, which aims to improve IVF and egg freezing by reducing the number of hormone injections needed by maturing eggs outside the body in a dish. When I moved to New York City for the first time, I was considering my own egg freezing and I had a dream that a woman could freeze her eggs and do IVF without weeks of painful hormonal injections. It is unreal how far we have come. We have changed, learned a lot, and grown, but still have a long way to go. This raise was a team effort and product of the hard work of all Gameto team members, board members and advisors. Martin Varsavsky, Dylan Morris, Maryanna Saenko, Teymour Boutros-Ghali, Dusan Perovic, Laura Stoppel, Peter Kolchinsky, Mira Kaufman, Anna Mason, Deena Shakir, Leslie Schrock, Kristina Simmons We are expanding the team now and currently looking for a Chief Medical Officer, Commercial Operations Lead, and a Science Writer, so check out our website career page if you are passionate about our mission and think you are a good fit for any of the open positions. For the 7th year in a row, our portfolio company Motherly® unveils jarring statistics about the state of Motherhood today. Check it out below:
Motherly's 7th Annual State of Motherhood Report launched today. The annual survey, with nearly 6,000 respondents, conveyed that today’s mothers continue to parent without adequate support. Key findings from this year include: Gen Z moms are signaling a continuing future birth rate decline: Today’s moms under 30 are 2 times as likely to NOT plan for more children than moms of the same age in 2019, citing financial, childcare, global, environmental and medical concerns (69% in 2024 vs. 35% in 2019). Childcare access and affordability issues continue to impact mothers’ ability to work: 66% of moms note that the stress and cost of childcare has made them consider leaving the workforce, up 14% from 2023. These sentiments are highest among Gen Z at 82%. One quarter of all moms report receiving regular financial support from their parents: Gen Z moms are twice as likely to have help from their parents compared to their own mothers' generations (Gen X+). In this election year, more than 85% of moms over 30 support federally mandated paid leave, regulation to address climate change, federally protected reproductive rights and increased gun control policies. Surprisingly, moms under 30 are 3x LESS likely to support the same policies, possibly signaling apathy. https://lnkd.in/dQd7maFM
