𝗕𝗢𝗞𝗔 𝗩𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗹𝗲 Today, we embarked an important next phase in what has been a turbulent 15 months for the car carrier formerly known as the Fremantle Highway. The vessel was in transit fully loaden on the North Sea when a significant fire developed on board. Our SMIT Salvage colleagues, together with a partner, rushed to the scene and successfully provided emergency response services. We successfully stabilized the vessel, brought the fire under control and the car carrier was then towed to Eemshaven where the salvage team carried out essential quayside work. Now it’s the turn of our BOKA Vanguard to complete the circle. Today, in the Port of Rotterdam, this unique semi-submersible heavy transport vessel and crew successfully loaded Floor – formerly known as Fremantle Highway – onto her 275-meter long and her over 70-meter wide deck. In the coming days, the cargo will be seafastened for the long voyage to the Far East, where Floor will undergo further repairs and modifications before returning to service. We wish the crew of the BOKA Vanguard a safe voyage! #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #bokavanguard #floor #fremantlehighway #smitsalvage #rotterdam #thenetherlands #heavymarinetransport

𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲… Within 48 hours, we welcome an extraordinary vessel from our offshore fleet to our home country of the Netherlands. The BOKA Vanguard, the world’s largest semi-submersible heavy transport vessel, is already sailing the North Sea and is on her way to the Port of Rotterdam. Our unique vessel is visiting the port to pick up an ‘old acquaintance’ for transport to the Far East. The cargo to be loaded in Rotterdam is Floor, the car carrier formerly known as the Fremantle Highway that was involved in a tragic incident in 2023 when it caught fire near the Wadden Island of Vlieland. Our SMIT Salvage colleagues, together with a partner, managed to stabilize the vessel and get the fire under control after which it was towed into the port of Eemshaven. The Floor is now ready for transport to the Far East, where she will undergo further repairs and modifications before returning to service.   #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #bokavanguard #rotterdam #floor #heavymarinetransport

𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗯𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝗢𝗞𝗔 𝗩𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱 Transporting cargoes that weigh tens of thousands of tons by sea is always a remarkable feat, even after countless long-distance transports. Our semi-submersible heavy transport vessel BOKA Vanguard – the largest of its kind in the world – recently completed another impressive assignment, transporting the FPU Opportunity from Singapore to Turkey. What made this arrival in Turkey particularly special was our BOKA Vanguard’s passage under the Çanakkale 1915 bridge. Boskalis played an important role in installing several sections of the world's longest suspension bridge, making this a heartfelt return to Turkey. #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #bokavanguard #heavymarinetransport #turkey

𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿  Barring exceptions, our hopper dredgers often work on multiple projects per year. To do so, they regularly cross oceans and stay with their crews in many different countries. Our Willem van Oranje, however, experienced a completely different year because as of August 2023 the vessel was operating continuously in the Maldives.    In the archipelago, land development projects have been carried out on many islands for our client Capital Marine and Civil Construction Company Pvt Limited (CMC). These dredging projects are necessary to literally create more space for housing as well as for other activities for the further economic development of the country. Our Willem van Oranje made a major contribution to this by delivering millions of cubic meters of sand to the islands of Hulhumalé, Thilafushi, Giraavaru and Fushidiggaru Falhu, among others. Recently, the hopper dredger made her final trip to Fushidiggaru Falhu, bringing an end to her long-term deployment in the archipelago.    We thank the crew of the Willem van Oranje for their outstanding work!     #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #innovativeinfrastructure #landdevelopment #maldives #willemvanoranje #trailingsuctionhopperdredger

𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 ‘𝗕𝗢𝗞𝗔 𝗙𝗶𝘃𝗲’  Michael Jackson and his four brothers became world-famous as The Jackson Five. We won’t assume that also will happen to our powerful DP2 offshore construction vessel BOKA Falcon and her four 'relatives' BOKA Summit, BOKA Glacier, BOKA Striker and Manta. But the similarity that the 'BOKA Five' does share with the singing brothers is that the five of them together are capable of brilliant results. With many FPSOs operating around the globe that all need to be towed, installed and maintained, the 'BOKA Five' will undoubtedly perform much more frequently in the coming years.   However, the chances that the next 'FPSO concert' will be performed by the same five artists are slim. Our fleet consisting of 13 long-distance towing vessels and another 15 anchor handling tugs makes Boskalis unique. Especially knowing that keeping a huge and heavy FPSO in position or mooring it, requires at least five powerful tugs.   Earlier this year, the ‘BOKA Five’ conducted a disconnecting operation with the FPSO Fluminense, which was installed in the Brazilian deep sea. After disconnecting all 9 mooring lines, our BOKA Glacier, BOKA Striker and BOKA Summit successfully towed the FPSO to a ship recycling facility in Europe.   #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #marineservices #decommissioning #bokasummit #bokaglacier #bokafalcon #bokastriker #manta #fpso #brazil #denmark #bokafive

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻  In the south of the United Kingdom, Boskalis has taken another step in the development of its Artificial Reefs Program. Besides renewing the existing groyne that protects Poole Bay, including the Hengistbury Head nature reserve, from coastal erosion, 25 artificial reef units have been installed by our colleagues at Boskalis Westminster Ltd. through Boskalis’ Artificial Reefs Program to enhance the ecology.    A total of 25 MOSES reef blocks from ReefSystems were installed - the artificial reefs previously installed by Boskalis off the coast of Kenya that proved successful there. In addition, 13 artificial reefs from ARC Marine® were installed. Prior to their installation, both types of artificial reefs were tested in the North Sea and at Deltares to demonstrate that the reef constructions are stable enough and suitable for the North Sea climate. This effect will be extensively monitored in the coming years.    Another 57 machined tidal rock pools, where small organisms and marine animals can settle, will be installed in the groyne’s surrounding environmental enhancement areas. Another 8 artificial tide pools are installed within limestone rocks next to the groyne.   With this unique combination of coastal defense and nature enhancement, Boskalis shows that marine construction work can serve multiple purposes. This project in Hengistbury Head not only aims to protect the coastal area and its local community from the consequences of climate change, such as rising sea levels and extreme weather, but also to make a major contribution to enhancing the local marine ecosystem.    Want to learn more about our Artificial Reefs Program? 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻  With great precision, our semi-submersible heavy transport vessel Forte installed the Gallaf GE Central Processing Platform (CPP) topside at its final destination, the Al Shaheen field offshore Qatar. This was done through a DP float-over operation in which our Forte positioned the CCP topside with surgical precision between the legs of the pre-installed jacket. By ballasting the vessel, the CCP topside was then mated on the jacket.    A special feature of our Forte's transport and installation project is that the 17,818-ton topside is the heaviest cargo ever loaded on this vessel using the skid-on method. This involves ‘sliding’ the CPP topside sideways from the quayside onto the vessel’s deck via a rail. This took place at the HOC yard in South Korea.    For the Forte, the Gallaf project already marks the second DP float-over installation of 2024. Earlier this year in Malaysia, the Jerun A topside was installed this way.    #boskalis #creatingnewhorizons #forte #floatover #transportandinstallation #offshoreenergy #gallaf
