🌟 About last Friday in Sydney!   In the morning, we had a productive meeting at Planet Ark, attended by major players in the waste management sector, including Cleanaway and Bingo. We discussed future developments in waste management across Australia, gaining further insights into the opportunities in New South Wales.   🤝 Later, we joined a session at SSROC (Southern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils), a collaboration among several Sydney councils. With around 35 representatives present, we engaged in discussions about the near future of waste management, focusing on advancing Waste to Energy (W2E) initiatives. The talks about social license—how well solutions are accepted by the public—were particularly enlightening.   🌱 Our day concluded with a visit to SOILCO in the Wollongong region. We enjoyed getting to know the team and touring their facility, where they transform food and organic waste into compost. 🌏 We like to share insights from our enlightening first day in Sydney! We kicked off our journey at Transport for New South Wales, diving deep into their policies on waste management, circular economy, and waste-to-energy initiatives. The learning curve was steep and the insights on opportunities in New South Wales were invaluable.   🎓 Our next stop was the University of NSW, where we had the privilege to learn about Professor Veena Sahajwalla's pioneering research on repurposing waste streams into new products. Her work is not only innovative but also a crucial step toward sustainable development.   💼 We then engaged in a fruitful discussion with Invest Regional NSW about the potential establishment of new local circular industries within Special Activation Precincts. The prospects for scalable sustainability solutions in these areas are exciting.   🔗 Ending our day at an Arcadis networking event, we presented our technology which garnered significant interest. 🌍 Exciting developments from our visit to the 'Gold Coast' with the Dutch delegation today! We had the opportunity to explore the Advanced Resource Recycling Centre (ARRC), a pioneering facility dedicated to innovating how we handle waste through a combination of cutting-edge technologies.   🔄 "Reduce & recycle" is more than a motto at ARRC; it's a commitment to finding sustainable alternatives to landfill disposal, especially for residual waste.   🤝 Following an enlightening tour, we engaged in fruitful discussions with the program director of ARRC, their dynamic team, and representatives from Gold Coast Invest. Additionally, we presented our latest technologies, which were met with great enthusiasm.   🔍 We're looking forward to further conversations to explore how these innovations can make a real impact. Together with our strategic partner QUOS from Colombia we have been invited by Minister President Pisas and his team headed by Director Gabriel Murray to discuss the circular future of this beautiful Island. The Government has put great emphasis on going circular and are very much interested in tailor made solutions whereas waste separation and recycling as well as waste 2 energy concepts are concerned. Africa, a vast continent with vast opportunities as well as mayor challenges. Still so difficult to get funding in place for projects that make a huge difference in the waste challenge at hand. Viability and economics just don't do the trick! Sometimes you just have to invest in a better world ... for all of us. We keep forgetting it is a global challenge and wherever we make a difference counts!
