Last week, we attended the first Sustainable Aero Lab Festival, a super inspiring and intense event filled with discussions and pitches.  It was a great feeling to be amongst the 25 innovative startups that work on making aviation sustainable and equitable. Our SAL Festival highlights 👇 ✈️ Brian Moran, the Chief Sustainability Officer at Boeing, shared that while flying has faced criticism in recent years, it’s also what keeps our world connected, and it should be our mission to make it equitable and accessible to all. ✈️ Jolanda Stevens, the Program Manager Zero Emission Aviation at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, pointed out the challenge of fostering innovation while airlines strive to run predictable and reliable operations. It’s great to see KLM bringing stakeholders together to drive new technologies forward. ✈️ Arjan Meijer, the President and CEO at Embraer, emphasised that upgrading fleets is key, offering 30-40% improvements and reducing the fuel burden we’d otherwise need to replace with sustainable aviation fuel. ✈️ Stephan Uhrenbacher, the CEO at Sustainable Aero Lab, warned that the West might be moving too slowly. ✈️ Susan Ying FRAeS, FAIAA, the SVP Global Partnerships at Ampaire, shared an invaluable perspective on innovation in aerospace around the globe. 𝗣𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗗𝗧 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀: 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗱 ✔️   Precision is critical when it comes to the inspection of carbon fibre composite materials. To maximise the resolution of our testing system, we teamed up with the brilliant team at Fiducial (previously Bladesense) for the C.L.A.R.A. project (Composite Line Assessment with Remote Analysis).   𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆, 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 ☑️👇 We successfully integrated the Fiducial positioning system with the Eddytec handheld defect detection system.
