🚨 29 money-laundering drug traffickers taken down. Europol has supported Albanian and Italian law enforcement authorities in taking down a drug trafficking criminal network led by two Albanian brothers. The perpetrators are believed to be responsible for organising drug shipments from South America to several EU Member States. Europol supported this operation, which culminated in an action day that saw the arrest of 29 suspects (27 in Italy, 2 in Albania). On 5 November 2024, law enforcement officers raided locations in Albania, Italy, France, Spain, and Romania, seizing various criminal assets. 🚨 During a Europol-supported action day conducted by Bulgarian and German law enforcement in mid-October, officers seized several million euros' worth of stolen car parts. The raid was the result of an investigation initiated when a logistics company in Wallersdorf, Bavaria (Bayern) was broken into in June 2024. The burglars had stolen large amounts of parts for vehicles produced by a German car manufacturer. The perpetrators had loaded the parts on lorries using forklifts, before transporting them abroad. 🚨Law enforcement from 18 countries, led by Spain, Portugal, and Austria and coordinated by Europol with the support of European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), seized over €14 million in counterfeit banknotes and coins. This joint police and customs operation under EMPACT successfully intercepted 174 parcels of fake currency via postal services, triggering 144 investigations. Most seized items were altered-design ‘movie money’ passed off as real currency. Customs and police cooperation was vital in targeting these networks, highlighting how intelligence-sharing and risk assessment are essential to stopping counterfeit distribution. 🚨 The Spanish Policía Nacional, with Europol and six European partners, has dismantled a key faction of the Serbian “Vračar Clan.” The group’s leader and his lieutenant were arrested in Barcelona on 18 and 22 October. Both individuals face multiple serious charges, including murder, attempted murder, and kidnapping across Europe.
