HEALTH & INNOVATION DISTRICT AMSTERDAM Sanquin takes care of the blood supply in the Netherlands. They do so from a variety of locations, with a leading site on Plesmanlaan in Amsterdam. This site is being redeveloped into a fully-fledged campus under the name Health & Innovation District Amsterdam (Hid). Our partner, Ector Hoogstad Architecten, made the urban master plan. Meanwhile, the preliminary design has also been completed for building the #Lewis, the first new building for the campus named after one of the blood group systems. This laboratory and office building will house part of Sanquin and other organisations in #transfusion medicine and #immunology. The building also includes campus-wide facilities such as a large-scale restaurant with a sunny green terrace on the first floor and the raised ground level of the future campus. The Lewis building, spanning over 17,000 m2, is a testament to sustainability. Divided into seven super-flexible lab/office floors and a multifunctional plinth with cleanrooms, the building is designed with a circular, fully detachable construction. Energy generation on the roof and in the orientation-dependent designed facades further underscore our dedication to environmental responsibility. The entire building, including the labs, will meet the stringent sustainability requirements of BREEAM Excellent. The clients are Sanquin and STONE22. Hoewel het begrijpelijk is dat mensen soms werk en privé gescheiden willen houden, geloof ik dat wanneer je ook die twee werelden juist samenbrengt, je elkaar kunt versterken en de impact nog groter wordt. Afgelopen weekend heb ik samen met mijn tennisvriendinnen een prachtige, maar ook emotionele fietstocht gemaakt van Haarlem naar Hoorn om geld op te halen voor de Stichting ALS Nederland. Ik ben ontzettend trots dat we met elkaar meer dan €3.000 hebben opgehaald, waarvan €1.000 afkomstig is van het Health & Innovation District Amsterdam (Hid). 🙌 Het is geweldig dat mijn werkgever zulke initiatieven ondersteunt en actief bijdraagt aan maatschappelijke doelen. 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗹𝗸𝘄𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 Last night, we had an insightful Participation Evening with our valued Schinkelkwartier residents. The evening began with coffee, followed by informative presentations from Marlies Reurink and Elsemieke Hackenitz. The Q&A session allowed residents to voice their questions and provide valuable feedback. The Health & Innovation District (Hid) in Amsterdam is set to become a leading knowledge hub for #hematology, #immunology, #oncology, and #transfusion #medicine. The new Lewis Building will feature state-of-the-art laboratories, offices, cleanrooms, and support spaces. Additionally, a green roof garden accessible to all campus users will enhance the facility's sustainability. We aim for a BREEAM Excellent certification, with high energy performance, self-sufficient energy generation, and green roofs supporting local biodiversity. Our goal is to create a facility that not only advances medical research but also supports the well-being of our #community. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the evening.
