Sandra Guns is the new Director of Development & NPI at Hittech Multin. ‘Our customers benefit from our knowledge of mechatronics development, DfX and new product introductions ’, Sandra says. A little over a year ago, Sandra started as manager of the Technical Product Managers of Hittech Multin. Sandra: “Before I joined Hittech Multin, I was in charge of a department of 45 engineers. I know the world of development inside and out, so I chose the position at Hittech Multin to delve deeper into the production process. During the past year, I learned a lot and was able to experience all facets of the production process, where continuous improvement is central at Hittech Group.” What will be your mission in your new role at Hittech Multin? Sandra: ‘Hittech Multin has a strong development department. With my knowledge in project management and managing engineers in both development and production environments, I see it as a fantastic opportunity to get the most out of this group of professionals. Together with my team, I want to ensure that we as a department continue to develop and improve continuously. What interests me particularly is that, as part of Hittech Group's development centre, we collaborate with all our sister companies. I believe we have much to offer in the field of mechatronic development, DfX and new product introductions.”

On Thursday, October 17, Mikrocentrum will organise an expo and congress in Veldhoven (NL) about Materials Engineering. Our Director of Technology, Pieter Kappelhof, is a passionate advocate for this topic and will present the importance of material science and production technology.   Pieter: "Selection of material and production technology is one of the key aspects of system design. It determines thermal, strength and dynamic performance and how parts are produced, joined, and assembled. Understanding a material’s complex multi-crystalline or amorphous structure strongly determines the stability of highly accurate optical systems. My presentation bridges the system design process and material and production aspects. It shows how to deal with and optimally incorporate these aspects in a system design approach and is illustrated by examples. The presentation is based on my lecture for the successful master course ‘Application of Materials in High Tech Industry’ from the TU Delft | Mechanical Engineering, initiated by industry experts and researchers.” Materials Engineering 2024 will emphasise materials' practical and technical application at the expo and the congress. The event will cover the following topics, among others:   - Composition of materials: including chemical compositions, crystal structure, and microstructure that affect strength, stiffness, and other essential properties. - Material properties: covering mechanical (tribology, vibration), thermal, electrical, and magnetic properties. - Corrosion and surface analysis. - Surface treatment and functional layers. - System design, materials and production   To register for the event, go to the link in the comments.

We are Hittech Multin in The Hague (NL). With eight other Hittech companies spread across the Netherlands, Germany and Malaysia, Hittech Multin has been part of the Hittech Group since 2004. In this post, we dive into our history, how we became part of the Hittech Group, and our contribution to our international client portfolio.   We asked our Director of Sales & Marketing, Philip Bakker, about the early days of Hittech Multin: “Multin had its history in the early 90s when three engineering agencies joined forces as the Multin Technology Group under the ownership of Priva, an innovative company from the Westland region that is specialised in sustainable climate control. The idea was to implement the mechatronics knowledge from Multin into the horticultural sector, but when ASML knocked on the door in 1998, Multin entered into a future in semicon instead. I joined in 2000, and in 2004, the company was acquired by the Hittech Group. Thirty years later, we have a vast track record and still excel in developing and assembling complex mechatronic products.”   In the video we made this year, we elaborate on Hittech Multin’s strengths and added values in the group and towards our clients. Today, the company serves as the group’s Design for Excellence engineering centre, where we specialise in developing entirely new products and value engineering to optimise existing products and systems. We operate in various market sectors, including semicon, analytical equipment and MedTech, adhering to the highest achievable industrial quality standards. Hittech Multin and SPECTRAL Industries signed a letter of intent, underlining our intention to work together structurally in the coming years. Frans Hoffmans: "We see them as one of the most promising scale-ups in the region, and they will probably grow into renowned players in the market for analytical instrumentation."

On day two at 14:15H of this two-day event with thirty international speakers, our Director of Technology, Pieter Kappelhof, will represent our German company, Hittech Prontor GmbH.   Pieter Kappelhof: “This year, I have a double role at the Wetzlar Autumn Meeting. First, I will present my mission to improve materials knowledge at the design stage of opto-mechanics. But I also used my network from my role as a board member of the Dutch Society for Precision Engineering (DSPE) to invite companies from the Netherlands, such as ASML, TNO, Anteryon B.V. and Nedinsco, to give presentations for the parallel session on day two of the meeting about optical manufacturing in the Netherlands.”   The Wetzlar Autumn Meeting “Modern Optical Manufacturing” is organised by Photonics Hub and will be held on Tuesday, September 24 and Wednesday, September 25. Registration is possible via the online registration link in the comments. The number of participants for company tours to VIAOPTIC GmbH, Ernst Leitz Wetzlar GmbH and Leica Camera AG is limited. Places will be allocated in the order in which registrations are received.
