🌟 We are thrilled to have actively participated in the OPERAS conference at the Royal Library of Belgium in Brussels on June 26–27, 2024. The conference focused on Internet trust dimensions like governance and science and aimed to foster collaborations for responsible Digital Public Infrastructures and shared best practices to safeguard online content quality, crucial in the AI-driven disinformation era. The IANUS team delivered special talks on these essential topics: 🔹 Hendrik Berghäuser emphasized the role of responsible science communication in building public trust, while analyzing the challenges and risks associated with it. 🔹 Julija Baniukevic highlighted the critical collaboration between scientists, policymakers, and communicators to effectively convey science and technology-related information during crises. 🔹 Simone Driessen, PhD explored the impact of candid science communication, referencing the YouTube channel Kurzgesagt and their honest approach to oversimplifying complex topics. 🔹 Amalia Kallergi & Laurens Landeweerd discussed the potential and limitations of co-creation and participatory initiatives in navigating misinformation and promoting scientific literacy. ➡ If you are interested in learning more, visit the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dFv3jsZj #trustinscience #ianusproject #sciencecommunication #publictrust

📣 IANUS Project partner Tartu Ülikooli eetikakeskus/ The Centre for Ethics of the University of Tartu gathered Estonian and international experts for the conference : "Trust = Survival?! Where does trust come from and where does it disappear and how to survive?" 🔥 Together with international experts, we explored the role of trust in the development of human communities and in survival, examining the significance of trust and community in our uncertain world. 🌟 Our partners presented the results of their work in the IANUS Project in a talk titled: "Do we know what trust in science depends on?". 📣 IANUS project’s partner Charlotte Bruns participated in a session on "Trust in the Digital Sphere" at the Science Summit UNGA79. Held by OPERAS Research Infrastructure, the session aimed at sharing the first results of the June 2024 “TrustOn 2024 – tackling disinformation” workshop. 🌟 Science Summit UNGA79 is a premier global event uniting leaders, scientists, policymakers, and innovators with the aim to address contemporary scientific and technological challenges. It highlights science’s pivotal role in sustainable development and contributes to shaping the future global agenda. 🧐 Dr. Bruns and representatives from sister projects VERITY and POIESIS project, along with COALESCE SciComm, shared preliminary results from the Trust-on workshop during an online session on “Fostering Trust in the Digital Sphere: A Multi-Stakeholder Approach Introduction.” 🌱 Participants co-developed recommendations on building #TrustInScience and countering disinformation. They were invited to openly exchange ideas, knowledge, and experiences, collaborating to create a more reliable and durable digital ecosystem. 🤖 With the fast development of AI and the rise of digital platforms, the latest years have seen profound changes in the dynamics that govern the creation and spreading of information. The event was thus a valuable opportunity to emphasize the collaborative nature of science and trust. 🤝 IANUS is committed to its mission to develop recommendations on building trust in science together with the science community and actors engaged in science production, education, communication, policy, funding, and advocacy, in a coordinated efforts to tackle disinformation and protect scientific freedom. 🥁 TOMORROW! “Fostering Trust in the Digital Sphere: A Multi-Stakeholder Approach Introduction” is the title of the OPERAS session at the Science Summit of the 79th United Nations General Assembly and will take place online on Wednesday, 11th of September, at 5pm (CEST).
