"Our supply chain as it stands is not able to feed 8 billion people without destroying the environment. Large food and meat companies—who will ultimately fund the scale up of this technology - know this better than anyone." Enter #cultivatedmeat! 👇 Read the full piece by @elainewatson in AgFunder, in which our CEO and meat industry veteran Jeff Tripician outlines his vision for Meatable. #foodtech #alternativeprotein

Cultivated meat may be down, but it’s not out, insists the new US-based CEO of Dutch startup Meatable. The reason is simple, claims Jeff “Trip” Tripician, a meat industry veteran who took the helm of the company last month. “Our supply chain as it stands is not able to feed 8 billion people without destroying the environment.” And large food and meat companies—who will ultimately fund the scale up of this technology, predicts Tripician—know this better than anyone. “They know that in the next couple of years, they can invest in organic and grass-fed and regenerative and free-range and they can charge more for these products and make a return. But they also know that these solutions are only so scalable; they take more land and the animals grow more slowly and they’re more expensive to feed. They’re not as efficient. At some point, they are going to have to ask: what’s next?” #cultivatedmeat Meatable #foodtech #cellularag AgFunder #alternativeprotein Jeff Tripician

Active Deep-Tech Angel Investor | Board Member | Co-Founder and Former CEO at Meatable | Ex-McKinsey

I am excited to share that I will be transitioning from my role as CEO of Meatable to join our Board of Directors, effective June 17. This transition marks an important milestone for Meatable as we welcome Jeff Tripician as our new CEO. When I founded Meatable in 2018 alongside Daan Luining and Mark Kotter, my dream was to create a world where we no longer need to slaughter 80 billion animals each year for our protein intake. Today, I am incredibly proud of how far we have come in turning that vision into reality. Together, we have developed revolutionary technology, developed delicious products, raised over $100 million in strategic investments, and positioned Meatable as a leader in the cultivated meat industry. Jeff Tripician, with over 25 years of experience in the organic and natural meat industry, is exceptionally well-qualified to lead Meatable as we focus on commercialisation into the U.S. market. Reflecting on our journey, I am immensely proud of our achievements and even more grateful for all the people who have contributed to our success. From our investors who believe in our mission to our partners and our dedicated team of 'Meataballers' who work tirelessly every day to realize our shared dream, I am deeply appreciative. While I will miss being involved in daily operations, I am excited to continue contributing to Meatable's mission and future successes as a member of the Board. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported me along the way. Your encouragement, dedication, and belief in our vision have been instrumental in our success. The future of sustainable food is bright, and I am honored to remain a part of this transformative industry. Looking ahead, I am excited to spend more time with my family and focus on growing and supporting my portfolio of angel investments as I start to explore the next steps in my journey. https://lnkd.in/d_zX9E3K

Swedish Royal Technology Mission visits Meatable! We were very pleased to welcome His Majesty the King of Sweden, Carl XVI Gustaf, His Excellence Ambassador, Johannes Oljelund, and a large technical delegation to our facility this week. Tack så mycket! #LeidenBioSciencePark #LUMC #iva1919

Leiden Bio Science Park was proud to welcome His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, with a high-level delegation from the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA)! They focused on learning about the Netherlands' most innovative technological ecosystems, and their visit highlighted our role as a major hub in life sciences and health in Europe and our commitment to international collaboration. It was an honour to host the Royal Technology Mission and showcase our life science and health technologies. Sweden adds significant value to this field, and we exchanged valuable knowledge and ideas. We hosted this event together with Leiden University and Leiden University Medical Center. Thank you so much for making this possible! Director of Leiden Bio Science Park Esther Peters joined the delegation on a bus tour around the park, allowing them to see firsthand the innovative environment and the state-of-the-art facilities we offer. Following a welcome by Rector Magnificus of Leiden University, Hester Bijl, Chairman of the Executive Board of the LUMC, Douwe Biesma, and the Dean of the Science Faculty, Jasper Knoester, the group gathered in the Science Faculty. Esther Peters presented on our ecosystem, and Ton Rabelink from LUMC highlighted advances in cell and gene therapy, showing our ecosystem in this field and reached out to Sweden to collaborate and learn from each other. Thomas Hankemeier shared his research on metabolomics-driven systems biology in personalized health strategies at the Exposome-NL facility at the Pharmacology, LACDR, University Leiden. The Exposome scan is a unique robot that can measure and study substances in a large number of blood and urine samples on a large scale. This helps us better understand the influence of environmental factors on the development of diseases and detect diseases at an earlier stage. Krijn De Nood shared about Meatable's innovative cell-based technology and their mission to satisfy the world's appetite for meat without harming people, animals or the planet but with lab-grown, cultivated meat.    Koenraad Wiedhaup shared about the Leyden Labs' mission to liberate humanity from respiratory viruses. Their nasal sprays enhance mucosal immunity and provide broad protection, targeting respiratory viruses where they first enter the body.    The purpose of IVA's trip was to foster new contacts, promote knowledge exchange, and encourage collective learning, and so we did. This visit and the discussions set the stage for further joint research, educational exchanges, and business collaboration to boost our impact in life sciences across Northern Europe. We can learn a lot from each other, and together, we can make an even bigger impact in improving our lives and global health. Thank you so much for visiting us, and let's stay connected! #sweden #lifesciences #cellandgenetherapies #iva1919
