"Bon bini na Mondi" translates to "Welcome to Mondi" in Papiamentu, the native language of Chef and co-founder Justin Niessen. Together with Mariska Nunes, Managing Director at Corendon Hotels & Resorts this duo has brought the Caribbean flavor, to the heart of the city. The restaurant entrepreneurs understand that the Mondi experience is not only inspired by communities in the Caribbean, but also by the people who inhabit them. Meet Mio - R.F.M. Böhtlingk Dijkman Mio joined the Mondi Tribe in April 2021 and currently serves as the Restaurant Manager of Mondi South. Today, he shares his Mondi experience with us. 🔎 Describe your role in a few words. As a restaurant manager, my role is to ensure everything runs smoothly for our guests, that they have an amazing evening, and that they want to return. 🌟 What inspired you to join the Mondi team? I have been working for Corendon Hotels & Resorts since September 2016. After completing my vocational studies, I started working at The College Hotel in 2020. When Mondi opened its doors in April 2021 at this beautiful hotel, I was immediately inspired by the concept. Having visited Curaçao frequently since childhood, which feels like a second home to me, I instantly felt a strong connection with Mondi. ⭐️ What makes Mondi special? For me, Mondi is a unique concept that didn’t exist in the Netherlands. The twist on Caribbean dishes combined with different entertainment experiences makes it special to me. Every workday is a new adventure. 🌺 What is your favorite part of the Caribbean influence at Mondi? For me, the tacos are really delicious. If you love tuna, I highly recommend the tuna taco—it's absolutely amazing! 🏅 How important is the customer at Mondi? The customer is always our top priority. We do our best to provide our guests with a unique experience. 🗝️ What are your 3 pillars for customer satisfaction? 1.Enthusiastic staff who deliver top-notch service to our guests 2.Entertainment on another level 3.Delicious food 💡 Can you share a unique tip for first-time visitors to Mondi? To have a unique experience, I recommend dining on a Friday or Saturday. We have a DJ who plays various music that fits the concept, leading to a "Mondi Moment"—what that is, you'll have to experience it yourself when you're here! 💭 Describe Mondi in one word. Unique!

A little bit about my Mondi journey ❤️
Meet Kiana Cova Joining the Mondi Tribe back in 2020, Kiana is a Mondi partner. Today, she will be sharing her Mondi experience with us. 🔎 Describe your role in a few words? I’m often referred to as “The Creative brain” behind Mondi. My official title is Marketing & Brand Director. 🌟 What inspired you to join the Mondi team? I don’t believe in coincidence, but I do believe in synchronicities. On one of the worst days in my career I got a phone call from Mariska Nunes, one of the founders of Mondi, asking me to join the Mondi team. At the time I was already an ambassador for the restaurant and felt a deep connection to the entire concept as I’m born and raised in Curacao. The conversation with Mariska, my profound affinity for the concept, and the unique timing of it all inspired me to make a decision that would ultimately change the course of my life. ⭐️ What makes Mondi special? Next to the exceptional food, Mondi is special because it celebrates the Caribbean ethos through various aspects of the concept from music, to staff, to art, to the interior in the restaurants. We're Caribbean down to our core and that creates an authentic space and ambiance. 🌺 What is your favorite part of the Caribbean influence at Mondi? For me it's about togetherness and feeling at home. Seeing people that are from completely different age groups, backgrounds, and styles come together to dine, dance and drink makes me very happy. This effect represents the Caribbean influence... At my mother's house in Curaçao we're bound to end up dancing after some drinks & dinner. 🏅How important is the customer at Mondi? We see our customers as guests that we are welcoming into our space, so it's pivotal to us that they leave with a full belly, happy memories and possibly sore feet from a little dance. To us it's about connection, which we always aim to create through the delivery of great service, food and solution-oriented thinking. 🗝️ 3 pillars for customer satisfaction? Exceptional quality, personalized experiences, engagement & feedback. 🌍 How does Mondi cater to both locals and international guests? At the basis, our concept is elevated Caribbean cuisine, but we try to have some items on the menu that cater to even the pickiest eaters. Whether it's a burger, a salad or a lobster bisque - we have something for everyone. Mondi even caters the Corendon Airline's onboard meals from Amsterdam to Curaçao and back. 💭 Describe Mondi in a word? Caribbean, duh 🍹 What new and exciting things can guests expect at Mondi in the coming months? We're currently working on the Mondi Beachclub in Curaçao and that is going to be a-ma-zing!
