🌍 Twynam has invested in Vycarb, a Brooklyn-based climate tech startup, through its Earth Fund, marking the fund's fifth early-stage capital support for environmental initiatives. 🌱 Vycarb is developing a scalable, water-based decarbonization technology using Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement (OAE) to capture and store carbon for less than $100 per ton. Their system doses alkaline minerals into submerged reactors in CO₂-rich waters, triggering reactions that stabilize the CO₂ as bicarbonate. Vycarb is currently running pilots on the U.S. East Coast, including a project in New York City’s East River capable of capturing 100 tonnes of CO₂ annually. 🌊 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/d3M-GFc6 #CarbonCapture #ClimateTech #Sustainability #BlueEconomy #CO2Removal #Decarbonization #TechForGood #OceanInnovation #Vycarb #Twynam

Global demand for seafood is projected to more than double by 2050, driven by population growth and evolving trade patterns. However, funding for aquatic foodtech startups is struggling, with just $150 million raised in the first half of 2024 across 18 deals, marking a 40% drop from 2023. Novel Farming Systems startups focused on aquatic foods, which include high-tech aquaculture growing systems, have raised $1.3 billion across 197 deals in the past 10 years. The second most funded aquatic foodtech category is Innovative Food, which has raised $689 million in 136 deals since 2014. Over the past decade, aquatic foodtech has garnered $3.6 billion in funding, but it represents only 1.63% of global agrifoodtech investment, highlighting a need for more capital in this rapidly evolving industry. 🌊🐟 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/dSncXRc4 #AquaticFoodTech #BlueEconomy #SeafoodInnovation #Aquaculture #SustainableFishing #FutureOfFood #Seafood #FoodTech
