De Europese Commissie wil met het maatregelenpakket van de Clean Industrial Deal economische slagkracht laten samengaan met verduurzaming. Belangrijk, vinden de havenbedrijven van Rotterdam en Antwerpen-Brugge, zeker in de huidige geopolitieke context is een sterker, onafhankelijker Europa meer nodig dan ooit. In een gezamenlijke reactie benadrukken de havens het belang van een snelle uitvoering van de deal en aanvullende actie van nationale overheden op het gebied van energieprijzen, coördinatie van infrastructuur en EU-regelgeving. CEO's Boudewijn Siemons (Rotterdam) en Jacques Vandermeiren (Port of Antwerp-Bruges): “Er is niet één simpele oplossing; het is een optelsom. Als we onze industrie en welvaart willen behouden voor toekomstige generaties, moeten alle partijen hun woorden nu omzetten in daden.” De havenbedrijven willen gezamenlijk bijdragen aan de uitvoering van de deal en herhalen daarom hun voornemen om hiervoor intensiever te gaan samenwerken. 🇬🇧 (🇳🇱 below) Throughput in the port of Rotterdam declined by 0.7% in 2024. Total throughput amounted to 435.8 million tonnes. The decline in throughput is mainly due to lower coal and crude oil throughput. Growth was recorded in the container segment. Driven by increasing consumer spending, throughput grew by 2.8% to 13.8 million TEU. De totale overslag kwam daarmee uit op 435,8 miljoen ton. Dat de totale overslag een daling laat zien, komt voornamelijk door minder overslag van kolen en ruwe olie. Groei was er in het containersegment. Als gevolg van toenemende consumentenuitgaven groeide de overslag met 2,8% tot 13,8 miljoen TEU.
