QGF will accelerate the development of PQC and Quantum Cryptography by providing a testbed to integrate different kinds of cryptography, combining the use of PQC, QKD, QRNG, and all other quantum-safe technologies. The three main goals of QGF are: 1. To guide organizations on their quantum journey toward a quantum-safe landscape 2. Provide organizations with a testbed to experiment with different kinds of quantum and quantum-safe technology. 3. Connect all kinds of organizations together in a single ecosystem to accelerate the adoption and development of quantum and quantum-safe technologies.

For more than 30 years, we've understood how quantum networks can be used as an additional layer of Internet security. Whereas today's cryptography relies on unproven assumptions, Quantum Key Distribution (#QKD) guarantees security with hard mathematical proofs. However, there is an important detail regarding the security of QKD. To avoid man-in-the-middle attacks, it needs a reliable authentication mechanism. Today, we mostly fall back to public key cryptography. We welcome our new team member, Koen Groenland, who will help tackle this issue. In a collaboration between the Universiteit van Amsterdam and Quantum Gateway Foundation Koen will research authentication methods that use the quantum network itself, making the key exchange even more secure. Koen holds a PhD in near-term applications of quantum technology from QuSoft and has spent the past four years leading the https://lnkd.in/ejd6dab9 hub that drives R&D collaborations between industry and academia. With a strong foundation in quantum physics and a keen eye for identifying innovations with market potential, Koen is the ideal person to boost the technological readiness level of quantum-based authentication.
