📣Do you want to be part of QuSoft, the world-leading centre for quantum software in Amsterdam?  The UvA and the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica each have an opening for a tenure-track or tenured position in the area of quantum computing. Applications from both early-career researchers (as early as final year of PhD) and highly experienced researchers (comparable to associate or full professor level) are welcomed. ⭐ As of today, our colleague Richard van Harderwijk, who has worked with us for almost two years as Business Developer, is leaving his position to look for new challenges. ✅ His journey at Quantum.Amsterdam allowed him to connect end-users and companies with cutting-edge science, emphasizing that while research is crucial for technological development, its ultimate goal is to drive societal progress. 'Companies play a vital role in translating these innovations into products that improve lives and create jobs', said Richard. ✅ One of the most significant achievements in this position was garnering international attention for our ecosystem, highlighted by the visit of President Macron and King Willem-Alexander to UvA in April, 2023. This sparked further interest in the lab work that the UvA researchers do, underscoring Amsterdam's ecosystem's growing influence and potential. 💡'Looking ahead, the Amsterdam quantum community faces the challenge of maintaining enthusiasm for a future-oriented technology, from a realistic approach. It is crucial to manage expectations and educate the community on the facts versus the hype surrounding quantum advancements', Richard stated. As for his next steps, Richard mentioned that he is exploring new opportunities and challenges within the quantum field, though nothing is concrete yet. 👏 We wish him ever success in the future and hope our paths will cross again as he continues to contribute to this exciting future.
