Over ons

At QuTech, we work on a radically new technology with world-changing potential. Our mission: to develop scalable prototypes of a quantum computer and an inherently safe quantum internet, based on the fundamental laws of quantum mechanics. Established by TU Delft and the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research TNO, the focus at QuTech currently covers nearly all facets of quantum computing, including theoretical physics, new materials, quantum coding, and the actual development of (components of) a quantum computer.

  • 🙋♀️ The course 'Quantum Hardware and Its Applications with Quantum Inspire' has officially concluded, but the learning doesn’t stop there! Next week, participants will put their knowledge to the test in a hands-on online workshop. 🤓 If you didn’t follow the course but are eager to explore how to experiment and run quantum algorithms on a real quantum computer, you’re more than welcome to join! 💻 This interactive workshop is open to everyone and will take place on Friday 4 April, at 11:00 CET (10:00 UTC). Our experts will guide you through various exercises using QuTech’s Quantum Inspire demonstrator, and since the workshop is live, you’ll have the chance to ask questions along the way. 💡 Interested? • 🔎 Looking for a learning experience where you’re not left to navigate alone? 🤝 We all have left courses half way because of not finding the motivation or the push to continue on our own. But you can learn with us, step by step. The second run of the new QuTech Academy course 'Quantum Communication and the Quantum Network Explorer (QNE)' is an instructor-paced course, meaning you can expect: - A weekly module release to help you stay focused and motivated. - Personalized insights and guidance to ensure a deeper understanding. - Learning at the same time of other people that you can connect with. 📅 We are starting on 2 April. Discover the course and enrol now at: edu.nl/hj98p 🇪🇺 This course has been developed with the support of the EU-funded project QTIndu (Quantum Technologies courses for Industry). Participants from the EU are entitled to a QTIndu certificate for free. • 🙌 Some very nice news coming out of our research collaboration with Fujitsu! Researchers at QuTech, in collaboration with Fujitsu and Element Six, have demonstrated a complete set of quantum gates with error probabilities below 0.1%. 💡 Quantum computations are performed through a long sequence of basic operations called quantum gates. For a quantum computer to function, it is essential that all quantum gates are highly precise. 🤔 The probability of an error occurring during these gates must be below a threshold, typically in the range of 0.1% to 1%. Only then will errors occur rarely enough for error correction methods to work successfully and ensure reliable computation with noisy components. 💫 While challenges remain for future large-scale quantum computers, this research demonstrates that basic gate operations can be performed with errors below the critical threshold. Meeting this requirement is a crucial step towards enabling reliable quantum computation.
