Yesterday, Texas Rep. Giovanni Capriglione introduced the Texas Quantum Initiative (HB4751) in the 89th Legislature – marking a historic step toward making Texas a national leader in quantum computing, networking, and sensing. At #SXSW, Rep. Capriglione, IonQ VP of Sales & Strategic Partnerships Philip Farah, and Strangeworks CEO William Hurley discussed their vision for Texas’ quantum future. The panel covered why Texas is ideally positioned to take a leading role on the national and global quantum stage given its combination of world-class universities, thriving startup ecosystem, 50 Fortune 500 companies, and a $25B budget surplus this funding cycle. A bold quantum initiative can provide the required infrastructure, academic funding, and corporate incentives to enable Texas to capture an oversized share of the $1T economic quantum opportunity that McKinsey is predicting for 2035. We are excited to support Texas's groundbreaking initiative and look forward to seeing the state take a significant role in the quantum revolution! #QuantumComputing #TexasQuantumInitiative #Innovation

Next up in IonQ’s #WomensHistoryMonth spotlight series is Rachel Noek, Technical Program manager for Tempo, who plays a key role in bringing our next-generation quantum computing product from ideation to production. ✅ Rachel has dedicated most of her career to quantum computing, beginning with her PhD research at Duke University, where she developed high-fidelity state detection techniques for trapped ions. ✅ Rachel went on to be the technical program manager for the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity funded Error-corrected Universal Reconfigurable Ion-trap Quantum Archetype (EURIQA), which brought together leading researchers from four universities and three companies – the EURIQA program developed the basis for IonQ’s first quantum computer. ✅ Rachel is passionate about quantum computing’s world-changing potential, and she enjoys the satisfaction and accomplishment that comes with solving complex challenges in this field and breaking the barriers of computing as we know it. ✅ An early inspiration for Rachel was a mentor at Sandia National Laboratories, Dr. Jerilyn Timlin, a creative, trailblazing scientist, who showed Rachel that balancing a fulfilling scientific career with family life is both possible and extremely rewarding. Rachel’s journey underscores the innovation, leadership, and passion that fuel IonQ’s mission. Stay tuned as we continue to highlight the remarkable women shaping the future of quantum computing. #QuantumComputing #WomenInSTEM #IonQ
