Last week The Waste Transformers was invited by Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) | Partner in Sustainable Development to speak in Cairo about the food waste situation in the Netherlands and on-site solutions for the Egyptian market. As still 56% of all waste in Egypt is organic, it is important this is treated right, allowing to create circular principles of reuse. Here is a short recap of the event. #foodwaste #anaerobicdigestion #wastemanagement #CO2
Last week, we hosted the Organic Waste to Value (OW2V) Forum, an event aimed at unlocking the immense potential of organic waste in Egypt. 🌳♻️🌍 In collaboration with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) | Partner in Sustainable Development, we're committed to fostering stronger partnerships between Egypt and the Netherlands 🇳🇱 🇪🇬 #NLinEgypt to support this sector and together drive Egypt's transition to a greener, low-carbon future. The forum brought together key stakeholders from both countries, including government entities, financial institutions, private sector, development and knowledge organizations, where valuable insights and success stories were shared by speakers: Ahmed Huzayyin, UNIDO Egypt, Tagaddod, Chitosan•Egypt Agricultural Solutions شيتوزان•إيجيبت للحلول الزراعية, EGYMAG Biotechnology , Baramodaeg, BioMasr Ltd., Proteina For Feeds and Dutch experts: Freek van Eijk, Livio Bod, Coen Bakker,Louke Koopmans, Johan de Visser, Michiel Bakkum. Through interactive sessions, panel discussions, and networking events, we explored innovative solutions and identified concrete actions to advance #OrganicWaste valorization. Egypt's organic waste accounts for a significant portion of its total waste, posing serious #EnvironmentalChallenges. By recycling organic waste, we can limit pollution, reduce methane emissions, and create valuable products like energy, fertilizers, and bio-chemicals. Both Egypt and the Netherlands have prioritized effective waste management and a circular economy. The Egyptian government has implemented ambitious reforms to establish a climate-sensitive #WasteManagement system, and the Netherlands is striving for a fully #CircularEconomy by 2050. The embassy aspires to build on exerted efforts and knowledge gained in this field, and complement ongoing collaborations towards a climate-resilient, future-proof and circular #agriculture sector.
