Team Hague CAA in London last week for a wonderfully engaging panel session at the Airline Economics conference. With our arbitration and mediation clauses included in billions of Dollars of aviation contracts in just over two years since our launch (not to mention the ever-expanding inclusion of arbitration and mediation in aviation more generally as a result of our efforts), we are certainly doing our part to shift an age-old industry legal paradigm, one clause at a time. www.HagueCAA.org #aviation #arbitration #mediation

An insightful article by Les Schiefelbein, who is a member of The Hague CAA Mediation Standing Committee and also on our list of neutrals. Among other thing, the article references The Hague CAA and provides practical advice to young arbitration and mediation practitioners on how to build expertise and track record. #aviation #arbitration #mediation

The vast aviation industry is inherently global and, therefore, so too is The Hague Court of Arbitration for Aviation. This is, in part, why we are so pleased to enter into a novel strategic relationship with the Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC), the signing ceremony for which was held last week at the Singapore Airshow. This strategic relationship, which is the first of others to come, is in-line with our mission to “promote the use of arbitration and mediation as preferred methods of contractual dispute resolution throughout the vast global aviation industry, wherever and however helpful to the parties involved” working alongside our administering institution, the Netherlands Arbitration Institute (NAI). Speaking at the signing ceremony, Paul Ng, who serves as Co-Chair of our Mediation Standing Commitee and has been a member of our Advisory Board since our launch at the Farnborough International Airshow said: “The aviation industry is a crucial arterial of global commerce. In the past few years, the industry in Asia has faced unprecedented challenges because of the pandemic. An efficient method for dispute resolution between industry players is key to help the industry back to growth and success. The Hague CAA was formed to offer specialized arbitration and mediation services fine-tuned to the distinctive dynamics and needs of the sector. Singapore is a leading international commercial alternative dispute resolution hub for the region and globally. We are especially delighted to partner with SIMC, the leading Singapore institution specializing in cross-border dispute resolution, our natural choice as a key partner when it comes to mediation for our sector in Asia.” #aviation #arbitration #mediation

“An Industry and Legal Paradigm Shift, Slowly Then Suddenly.” In concluding The Hague CAA Conference 2024, our founder and present chairperson Paul Jebely delivered a poignant speech, rich in anecdotes and personal insights, that underscored a sense of collective mission and longevity. A transcribed video of the speech is below, and worth viewing. It outlines a transformative journey in aviation dispute resolution, emphasizing gradual yet inevitable change and conveying our deep commitment to the aviation industry. We were immensely pleased to host nearly 130 attendees, most travelling from all over the world to The Hague for our inaugural conference. A deeply engaging experience and a celebration of our collective effort towards a more nuanced, efficient approach to aviation disputes, rooted in the unique spirit of The Hague. The setting added a profound backdrop, aligning our conference with themes of globalization, international law and innovation. Thank you to our conference sponsors: Al Jallaf Advocates and Legal Consultants, Flynn O'Driscoll, HKA, Jones Day, K&L Gates, Linklaters, McCann FitzGerald LLP & Withersworldwide. Thank you as well to our supporting partners: Netherlands Arbitration Institute (NAI), City of The Hague, Chambers and Partners & International Institute of Air and Space Law (IIASL), Leiden University.
