Now more than ever, it’s time to stand up for those hit hardest by climate change. Many of us know a friend, family member, or neighbour facing extreme weather, disrupted livelihoods, or even forced migration. Women, marginalised communities and people of colour - suffer most from these impacts, even though they contribute the least to environmental damage. This month, WaterBear’s Collective Mission focuses on Climate Justice, working to create fairer systems and inclusive solutions. Join us in making a difference >> https://lnkd.in/euzE5T4s

Sound and music are an entry point for conversations with communities everywhere about issues like climate change & the future of the planet. WaterBear Studios & Louis VI (Louis J. Butler) are joining forces to blend artistry and activism across series, podcasts & experiential events. The first project of the partnership is called UNEXPECTED WILD, where you'll get a chance to experience Louis VI & other artists' creative process as they interact with and draw inspiration from the world's most diverse and captivating ecosystems, creating music inspired by the natural environment. UNEXPECTED WILD is set to begin pre-production at the start of 2025, and was created by UK-based production company Park Village. Our name is inspired by one of the most microscopic yet resilient creatures in the world that have survived not one – but FIVE - mass extinctions. Beyond being equal parts bizarre and adorable, water bears inspire us through their ability to adapt and heal in the face of extreme circumstances and environments. We always get a bit giddy when new studies and findings pop up in our press alerts. Enjoy this Friday read from Gizmodo.com: https://lnkd.in/dGmGfm4s

The UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world. Could local communities & nature-based solutions help turn that around? 🌿 🧠 We're thrilled to be launching Sea, Land & City on WaterBear today. The documentary follows Mairead Cahill, a nature impact leader and filmmaker, as she explores pioneering nature based solutions in action across our sea, land and city and explore what it looks like to reconnect with nature to support our mental health and wellbeing and the health of our economy and climate. From restoring our rainforests and coastlines to reintroducing beavers and releasing 'living pontoons' in our cities — we meet projects and people involved with the potential to lead big impact. This project was made possible by a number of people, communities, organisations, and businesses all coming together, and we're proud to be able to share it with the world and give people the tools to do some good. The Crown Estate, Triodos Bank, Blue Marine Foundation, West of England Combined Authority, Beaver Trust, Dominique P., Megan Mccubbin, Merlin Hanbury-Tenison, Rich Stockdale PhD, Louise McCallum,Theo Vickers, Prof Joanne Preston, WONDEROOM & Rubber Republic. 🎥 Watch 'Sea, Land & City' on WaterBear via the link in comments below👇
