  • We’re excited to share the key takeaways from the EU #Feminist Festival, a citizens' deliberation focused on the green transition and climate justice. 💚 This event brought together 71 citizens from diverse backgrounds to engage in intersectional feminist discussions about climate migration, energy poverty, and environmental racism—issues that affect communities in marginalised positions the most. The event pushed the boundaries of traditional deliberation by incorporating non-hierarchical facilitation, co-created agendas, and diverse learning formats such as embodiment theatre, academic presentations, and crafting sessions. 🎭📝 Our new factsheet outlines: ✔️ How participants set the agenda and shared their expertise ✔️ Innovative facilitation techniques that prioritized inclusivity ✔️ Actionable recommendations for policy changes on climate migration, energy access, and environmental racism This is a must-read for anyone interested in creating inclusive spaces for deliberation and policy advocacy on the green and feminist transition. Check it out and explore how you can integrate these methods into your own work! 🌱 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eBNigdnC #GreenTransition #ClimateJustice #Ecofeminism #Intersectionality #PolicyChange #InclusiveSpaces #FeministApproach #Sustainability #GreenRevolution European Environmental Bureau

  • As part of our project #EUWES, we are showing you inspiring stories by women working on energy-related topics :-). Today, we want to present to you Hannah Schmidt. Hannah is currently writing her Master's thesis in Gender Studies at Humboldt University in Berlin and works at the climate and energy transition communications agency EUMB Pöschk, which organises the ENERGIETAGE, among other things. There, she is particularly concerned with the social aspects of the energy transition and has found her passion for the connection between gender and the energy transition through this work. At the ENERGIETAGE 2024, she organised and moderated an event on the topic of gender equality in the energy transition. Together with experts from various disciplines, Hannah spoke about participation, acceptance and levers for a gender-equitable energy transition. Hannah´s goal: to drive forward a socially-just energy transition. To this end, she wants to further emphasise why gender equality is not a ‘nice-to-have’, but a decisive success factor in the transformation. After all, the energy transition can only really succeed if all people are considered and involved.

📢 Just released! IDDC Statement "Governments must take decisive action on disability-inclusive international cooperation" We live in difficult times. The global landscape of international cooperation is under significant strain due to cuts in Official Development Assistance (ODA) and Foreign Assistance, the rise of anti-diversity and exclusionary narratives, and a shrinking civil society space. ▶️ Impact of roll-back on aid commitments and inclusion initiatives Disability-inclusive programmes are now being lost. Budget cuts and changes of focus are leading to reduced funding for essential programmes and initiatives that support persons with disabilities, exacerbating existing inequalities, exclusion and marginalisation. Local organisations of persons with disabilities that are working towards locally owned and sustainable solutions are also in danger. Millions of persons with disabilities, who are among the most marginalised in society, may be further deprived of assistance from both their governments and international development and humanitarian organisations. This puts the gains made on disability inclusion in recent years at immediate risk. ▶️ Civil Society will hold the line on human rights and inclusion As a CSO network comprising a diverse membership—including INGOs, organisations of persons with disabilities, national networks, and international member-based networks— IDDC remains committed to its collective objective of promoting inclusive international development and humanitarian action in line with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Sustainable Development Goals.   ▶️ Governments must lead on disability inclusion. We urge governments to take immediate and sustained action to ensure that disability inclusion remains a priority in international cooperation:  ✔ Assert publicly - and with actionable steps - your commitment to disability inclusion. The upcoming Global Disability Summit provides an immediate opportunity for this. ✔ Advocate for disability inclusion and rights in upcoming multilateral fora. ✔ Safeguard funding for disability inclusion in development and humanitarian programmes. ✔ Integrate disability inclusion in all programmes and policies, and provide guidance and training to staff and programme implementers on disability rights ✔ Sustain your support to civil society organisations, and organisations of persons with disabilities, in their roles of advocating for and implementing disability inclusion We need each other to create a future where no one is left behind! • 🚨 Now available in English! Our joint paper, Fair, Sustainable & Effective: Gender Equality as the Basis for Climate & Biodiversity Policies, is now accessible to a wider audience! 🌍 📖 Read the full paper or executive summary here: https://lnkd.in/eCG7iFFi Together with ActionAid Nederland, Both ENDS, CARE Nederland, Milieudefensie, Simavi, and WO=MEN, Dutch Gender Platform, we lay out concrete policy recommendations and highlight examples from local partners on what works—and what doesn’t—when it comes to tackling climate & biodiversity challenges. 💡 Key recommendations: 🔹 Prioritize women’s meaningful participation in decision-making, from the local level to international climate negotiations. 🔹 Ensure accessible funding for local (women’s) organizations & integrate gender equality in all climate & biodiversity finance. 🔹 Align policies so they reinforce, rather than undermine, each other—centering human rights, gender justice & environmental commitments. #ClimateJustice #GenderEquality #SustainablePolicy #JustTransition #Biodiversity #FeministClimateAction
