Om oss

ÆRA is a strategic innovation consultancy that works interdisciplinary to consolidate the interests of business with those of people and our planet. If you find this point of equilibrium, we believe you've also found the ultimate business opportunities of the century. And doing so is our job. We're founded and work as an independent company. This enables a dedication to creating fruitful change in the world we live in, for both current, and future generations. We create this change by ushering and realizing strategic and sustainable innovation on three levels: ❶ In executives and their employees ❷ In companies and organizations ❸ Across sectors and industries We give business professionals practical skills in developing innovative and sustainable solutions. We provide companies and organizations of all sizes with tools, structure and strategy enabling sustainable business. We bring together sectors, industries and value chains – even competitors – to shift their mindsets towards collaborating as an ecosystem. This creates the systemic arena needed in order to solve serious, critical and complex societal challenges. We summarize our offerings into two words that we believe the world needs more than ever: optimistic leadership.

Trenger vi et samfunnsoppdrag for en sirkulær omstilling i Norge? Absolutt! Tenke vekst i verdi fremfor volum.

  • 💡 “Is there a machine for cups, just like the ones we have for bottles?” 💳 “That refund payment solution is very convenient!” 🍶 “A modern milkman solution for soap says it all.” 🚚 “I never thought about how different the logistics is in a circular compared to a linear consumption model.” These were just some of the many enthusiastic comments we heard during the mingling at our event “X KG a Day: Unlocking the Potential of Reusable Packaging,” part of Oslo Innovation Week last month. We in Æra are proud to have organized this event with TOMRA, showcasing TOMRA’s ReUse service for single-use cups and På(fyll)™) as a case of door-step delivery of household items in reusable packaging solutions. A special thank you to our competent speakers at the panel discussion, led by Fátima Sani (TOMRA), for sharing valuable insights and leading engaging and mature discussions on a fairly new topic: Geir Sæther (TOMRA), Bård Bringsrud Svensen (På(fyll)), Ingrid Holtan Borka (Oslo Kommune Bymiljøetaten), Simon Smedegaard Rossau (Aarhus Municipality), and Anne Marheim Støren (Orkla Home & Personal Care) For those who couldn’t attend in person, you can catch the streaming of the event here https://lnkd.in/dntZpzC5 to experience the discussions and insights shared! 🙏 We’re grateful for the wonderful conversations, networking, and the enthusiasm shared over great drinks - and amazing food from Palett. 💬 What topic would you like our next gathering to cover? 👋 To boost the flow of money into sustainable activities across the EU, the European Commission introduced the ambitious Action Plan for Sustainable Growth in 2018, and as a key element of this, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), last year. The aim in short? To ensure businesses provide reliable, comparable sustainability info, helping investors direct funds toward green, responsible businesses. One of several challenges? Some companies still treat sustainability disclosure as a tick-box exercise in an isolated department, seeing it as just another cost. But in reality, CSRD is a huge opportunity. 🔐 By treating it as a strategic tool for business transformation, companies can unlock real value, prioritize effectively in today’s complex world, get closer to their strategic stakeholders, and upskill teams for something they now need to invest in anyway. 🎯 The same goes for the concept of double materiality— the understanding how external sustainability factors impact your financials, how your business affects sustainability, and how to invest your resources where it matters most. This double-loop approach is, in our view, one of the most powerful strategic tools in today’s ESG-driven financial world. 🥗 With valuable we dont necessarily mean easy, but there is nothing such as a free lunch in transformative work. Interessting and business relevant? Oh yes!!! Curious why CSRD and double materiality should matter to your strategy? Check out Hanna Ahlström and Idunn Hals Bjelland-de Garcia🍉’s 6 key points, reach out to us, and/or join our upcoming master class on Double Materiality, Transformational Impact Goals and Value Chain Collaboration starting in November or January, lead by Eline Løseth Giskeødegård and Eirik Langås. #doublemateriality #impact #CSRD #strategy #transition #ESG

🌲 Back to the Woods! Unpacking Transition and Shaping the Future Last week, the Æra team gathered at the beautiful DNT Kobberhaughytta to reflect on our journey so far this year. Surrounded by nature, we explored key trends in strategy, sustainability, transformation, and innovation — discussing origins, implications, and how we can leverage the changes to create even greater value for our customers and society. We shared insights from various projects, focusing on how ongoing developments bring both risks and opportunities. Here are three key takeaways: 👩💼 First, we see sustainability shifting from qualitative ambitions to tangible actions, evidence-making, and quantitative data collection. “The financialization of sustainability" drives the need for greater stakeholder collaboration and depolarization to ensure progress. Discussions and collaborative work with progressive customers and partners on this continue to motivate and challenge us — whether through leadership upskilling in our masterclass, transformation strategy work, circular business model development, or joint innovation efforts. Our newest FLOKE, focuses on safe urban development, and the next one up will most likely be looking for strategies against social exclusion. 📈 Second, “The future is double material” is becoming an inside joke at Æra, reflecting our passion for the opportunities new disclosure requirements bring. Double materiality isn’t just about compliance; much more it’s about unlocking opportunities, transformation and creating real value, as our customers are also discovering. While financial risks are well-understood, the language and practice of managing impacts are just beginning. We have been exploring this with several customers, and there is much more to come. 🤝 Finally, we’re committed to increasing our positive impact by fostering even more collaboration across companies and industries. We’re designing and facilitating value-chain days and multi-stakeholder projects, and we’re excited to explore what the future holds with our clients and partners working closer - and broader - together. Thank you all for inspiring us — and giving us plenty of real-life cases and challenges to take to the woods. We’re energized for the months ahead and a head start in 2025. What is your key focus areas this autumn? #collaboration #doublemateriality #collaboration #transition

  • Thank You to the First Graduates of Our New Master Class!! 🎓 🙌 Last week, we wrapped up a fantastic three-day journey: our Transformative Impact Goals Master Class — with amazing leaders from various companies and industries. ✨ A big thank you to Camilla Giske, Helene Moen, Øyvind Bjørnstad 毕永达 , Ola Keul, Cecilie Myrstad, Renate Brattested Spernes, and Trude Mork Alnæs from Akershus Energi, Vestre, Norges Skiforbund, Sparebanken Møre, Europris, for joining our new program and bringing so much knowledge, expertise, and experience. Congratulations on being our first graduates! 👩🎓 👨🎓 During the course, we tackled some pressing issues that will only grow in importance, asking: What impact does the world have on our business and results, and what impact do our business and results have on the world? 🌎 Key topics included: 🔵 How can we use double materiality analysis to align sustainability goals with business objectives and turn them into clear Impact goals? 🔵 Can this approach help us move beyond compliance and drive sustainable business growth? 🔵 How can my company create, articulate, and implement an impact goal to add value? We shared insights, discussed the challenges and dilemmas of transition, and explored real-world cases. Exploring different aspects of how double materiality analysis and regulations are powerful tools for guiding strategy shed light on how we can discover new growth opportunities. We worked on impact goals, showing how well-defined goals can clarify a business' core impact and strategy. We dived into the importance of understanding a systems perspective and building partnerships to keep our businesses resilient. A special thank you to Pauline Bergan for demonstrating how TOMRA Collection aligned sustainability with business goals through their North Star, and to Sven Mollekleiv for showing how the Norwegian Premier League and Football Federation are using football to promote the SDGs with their ‘Football for the Goals’ initiative. We had an inspiring tour of Byens Tak with Håkon Moslet, showing how Rodeo Architects have opened up their offices, creating new meeting places and an arena for urban development. We’re so grateful for the good vibes, the challenging but rewarding discussions, and those many ‘aha’ moments when everything clicked! And not least, as one participant said: “We’ve left with a bit more hope for the future.” 🌏 🌱 🚀 We originally planned our next Master Class for 2025, but this experience was so rewarding that we consider another round in November! Who’s interested? ✋ Eirik Langås | Eline Løseth Giskeødegård | Øystein Hagen | Idunn Hals Bjelland-de Garcia🍉 | Hanna Ahlström | Svein Gunnar Kjøde | Andreas Kalleberg | Therese Norseth Zarrabi
