🚢 MS Trollfjord now carries the Made in Norway label 🇳🇴 This Sunday, MS Trollfjord became the first ship to be foiled with the Made in Norway logo, proudly showcasing our connection to Norway and its industries. The Made in Norway label is a registered trademark administered by Innovasjon Norge. Launched last year, it highlights products and solutions with a strong Norwegian foundation and is awarded to businesses that meet strict criteria for quality, sustainability, and responsibility. By carrying this label, we reinforce our ties to Norway and Norwegian industries, strengthening our position as a leading player in Norwegian travel. New design and ocean basin tests of the next-generation Hurtigruten ship 🌊 Last week, Hurtigruten, along with key industry partners and journalists, gathered in Trondheim to explore the latest advancements in ship design. VARD unveiled the newest iteration of the vessel design, and SINTEF Ocean hosted us to demonstrate a series of tests at its ocean basin, towing tank, and cavitation tunnel. The updated design is lower and longer, with two retractable sails. Tests with an 8-meter model in the ocean basin and towing tank confirmed that the sails could reduce energy consumption by 10-15% ⛵ To improve stability, the ship’s height has been reduced by one deck, and its length extended to 143.5 meters - the longest Hurtigruten vessel to date. Ongoing studies on contra-rotating propellers and air lubrication continue to deliver promising results. While still in the development phase, these innovations mark an important step toward a more energy-efficient future 🌍 📷 Espen Mills and Vard Design #SINTEF #VARD #SeaZero
