Exciting news!   We are moving forward with developing green hydrogen as a solution for the high temperature processes in aluminium recycling. At Hydro recycling in Høyanger, we will run a three year pilot – building og our world-first industrial scale test last year. Replacing natural gas with green hydrogen in this process can enable zero carbon aluminium. Maturing these solutions are no small feat. This is yet another step on Hydro’s path to net zero! Excited to share that Irizar e-mobility will be the first company to use recycled aluminium produced with green hydrogen - from the Hydro Navarra test (you can read about that test here: https://lnkd.in/gJWjue_Z) Irizar is using the aluminium as bodywork for their electric vehicles, being part of those pioneering sustainable transportation!

Norwegian hydrogen industry showing off in Europe! The Norwegian hydrogen industry travelled to Brussels this week, to showcase our capabilities in the European Hydrogen Week. The Hydro Havrand delegation of Violaine Guehl, Daniel Gorodicht, Linn Helland and Vibeke Mohn Herberg shared our insight in green hydrogen production, what it takes to introduce green hydrogen to industry and how access to green hydrogen can be a competitive advantage for industries looking to serve . And of course, we brought our billet - a sample of the world's first aluminium produced with green hydrogen. The green hydrogen industry has great potential in Norway, both as a future supplier of hydrogen to Europe, to decarbonize our own industries and as a new green industry on its own. Very exciting to see all the technologies, capabilities and services Norway has to offer! Thank you to H2Cluster for a great H2 Value Chain conference last week, where we shared our experience in the fuel switch to green hydrogen - and what we believe it takes to succeed!

In June, we produced the world’s first aluminium using green hydrogen in an industrial scale test. Our Head of Technology Martin Claus Strande gave a talk about this at Gasskonferansen yesterday, advising all hydrogen producers to mind the knowledge gap that exists between fuel producer and user when introducing a new fuel.
