  • Happy Women’s Day 🥳

    Vis profilen til Olivier Girardot

    CEO at Hydro REIN

The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is “Accelerate Action”. Why? Because we urgently need to turn words and goodwill into results. Gender balance *is* possible. In Hydro Rein women comprise 48% of the workforce and 56% of our top leadership. Why miss out on half of the talents out there? In fact our commitment to diversity extends far beyond, and we go the extra mile to bring together the bubble heads and the square heads, the introverts and the extroverts, and of course all talents regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, abilities, sexual orientation or background. Diversity drives value creation. It makes us more innovative, more competitive. We recruit into a much wider pool of competence & potential. So happy International Women’s Day to all of you incredible ladies leading the way, and to all of us who are lucky to be around you 😊

  • 👋 We had an awesome time showing Minister Alexandre Silveira around our new Vista Alegre solar complex in Minas Gerais this week! Minas Gerais, with its vast lands and abundant sunshine, has become a prime location for solar power. In 2024, the state led Brazil in renewable energy growth, adding 3.2 GW to the grid, highlighting its potential and commitment to clean energy. Vista Alegre highlights: ▪️Capacity: 902 MWp ⚡ ▪️Annual generation: 2 TWh (enough for a city of ~3 million people) 🌍 ▪️CO2 reduction: 154,000 tons/year 🌱 ▪️Records: Largest single-phase solar project in Brazil; Most solar modules installed in one day (38,398 panels) 🏆 ▪️Partners: Atlas Renewable Energy and Albras 🤝 Marcela Jacob, MBA, MSc, Head of Hydro Rein Brazil, emphasized our commitment to decarbonizing industries, creating jobs, and fostering local development. Through the "We are part of the same energy" program, led by Atlas Renewable Energy, 422 women were trained to boost female participation in renewable energy projects 👩🔧👩🏭 Powering progress, one gigawatt at a time! 🌞 Read more: https://lnkd.in/dHnNZJZD

  • Let there be light! 💡 Hydro Rein has successfully led an energy efficiency project, including a major lighting upgrade at Hydro Sunndal, Norway's largest aluminium smelter and electricity consumer. By replacing outdated incandescent lamps with smart LED bulbs in one of the electrolysis halls, the plant will save approximately 1 GWh of electricity annually! Our dedicated Energy Solutions team spearheaded this project, reducing electricity consumption by 70% while providing 3-6 times higher brightness. Beyond the energy savings, the upgraded lighting: 👀 Improves visibility 🔧 Reduces maintenance needs 🦺 Enhances workplace safety by minimizing risks associated with poor illumination "This initiative exemplifies how economic and environmental goals can align. Norwegian industrial companies have substantial opportunities to save energy, and this project showcases the impact of investing in energy efficiency and workplace improvements," says Marianne Wergeland Jenssen, Head of Energy Solutions for Industry at Hydro Rein. We are proud to lead by example in promoting innovative solutions that benefit both the industry and the environment! Read more at hydrorein.com 👉 https://lnkd.in/dK9mH9Zz

  • 🌞 Exciting news! 🌞 We are thrilled to announce that Hydro Rein is acquiring a stake in Brazil's largest single-phase solar complex, Vista Alegre. This strategic investment will significantly strengthen our operational renewable energy portfolio and will also contribute to industrial decarbonization through a 21-year power purchase agreement signed with Brazil's largest aluminum producer, Albras. Vista Alegre began full commercial operations in early December 2024. With a capacity of 902 MWp and an expected annual production of 2 TWh, Vista Alegre represents a monumental step towards a sustainable future. We are proud to be part of this transformative project in Brazil's renewable energy landscape! With the transaction finalized, Hydro Rein now holds a 20% stake in Vista Alegre, while Atlas Renewable Energy remains as the majority shareholder and Albras completes the ownership. • Connecting communities through clean energy 💚   Last week, a group of colleagues visited our the Ventos de São Zacarias wind farm complex in Northern Brazil, a project that we’re really proud of. Led by Felipe and the onsite project team, they got a firsthand look at how this wind farm is shaping the region – not just through sustainable energy production, but also by creating economic opportunities. But what truly stole the show? A friendly game of football with children from local municipal schools of Simões, Santa Isabel and Érico Veríssimo on a sports court built by the project 🎉⚽ The sports court construction is one of the compensation measures arising from the FPIC process with local traditional communities. These moments are a powerful reminder that renewable energy is about so much more than clean power – it’s about empowering people and building a brighter future for all. Supporting initiatives like education and sports allows us to leave a lasting, positive impact on the communities we serve. Thank you to the local community for your warm welcome and to our team for embodying our mission of sustainability and social impact! A special thanks goes to Larissa, E&S director at Ventos de São Zacarias, for organizing the sessions with the community and the Hydro Rein team. #Brazil #RenewableEnergy #People
