The NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) Advisory Team conducted the 26th iteration of the Joint Operations Planning Group Leaders Workshop (JOPGWS) at the Baltic Defence College (BDC) in Tartu from 17 to 21 March. The workshop was part of the curriculum of the BDC’s Joint General Staff Course elective programme and focused on improving the leadership skills of a Joint Operations Planning Group in terms of plan-to-plan, critical and creative thinking, challenging steps in NATO’s operational planning process, and other important topics. The 15 participants from 6 #NATO states used the training opportunity to enhance their knowledge and plan group leadership functions in the near future. Vice Admiral Simon Asquith MA CB OBE, NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT)'s Chief of Staff, visited NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) on March 20. He was warmly welcomed to the JWC by Major General Ruprecht von Butler, Commander JWC, and Brigadier General Raymond L. Adams, the Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff. "The Joint Warfare Centre plays a central role in accelerating the transformation of NATO’s military capabilities. Our ability to deter, to defend, and, if necessary, to defeat, is our centre of gravity. We are back to what I think NATO is all about. And I don’t think there has ever been a time where the work that the Joint Warfare Centre does has been more important than it is today." – Vice Admiral Simon Asquith Read more about the visit ⤵️ #WeAreNATO

Major General Ruprecht von Butler, Commander NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC), hosted a visit by Rear Admiral Gunnstein Bruåsdal, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Partnerships Directorate at NATO - Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), on March 18. The visit underscored the importance of international collaboration between civilian agencies and the military in preparing for NATO’s largest strategic and operational-level exercises. Civil preparedness and increasing partner nations' involvement in #NATO’s multi-domain exercises were also amongst the topics discussed during the visit. The JWC-directed STEADFAST Series of Exercises (code-named DETERRENCE, DUEL and DAGGER) serve as a great venue for developing and strengthening relationships and integration of governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as regional security organizations and partners. #WeAreNATO NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT)
