Yesterday, the NoA house in Oslo was packed for this month’s #NoABrainFood event. The theme was succeeding beyond Norway’s borders, and an outstanding panel shared their insights on both successes and the challenges, including the “belly flops,” they encountered along the way. Key takeaways: – Think ridiculously big. Be shameless, and dare to speak loudly about what you want to achieve, both internally and externally. – Define and nurture a clear purpose and a distinct brand. Let it influence everything you do, and be consistent over time. – Find and invest in the right people who believe in what the company is doing and wants to achieve. Bad hires are more expensive than you think. – Create a clear strategy that provides direction and focus for everyone, but be open to deviating when unique opportunities arise. – Measure everything, everywhere. Data provides insights and enables continuous improvement across the organization. – Understand cultural differences, build local networks, and make sure to have “local people on the ground” in key markets. – Invest in scalable technology. Fast growth requires a solid foundation. – Take responsibility. Make sustainability an integrated part of the core business. – Learn from your mistakes and keep going. Everyone who succeeds has experienced many failures along the way, but they don’t give up. A huge thank you to Pål Ødegaard (Dibber), Gineline Kalleberg (KAOS), Bjørn Fjellstad (Vestre), and Morten Isachsen (Tom Wood) for sharing their insights. We highly recommend following the journeys of these incredible companies. And of course, a special thanks to Christian Søgaard for guiding us through the morning. Next time, we’ll dive into how to use strategic creativity in sponsorships. Stay tuned for the invitation!
