We are excited to share another speaker profile with you today: MB Scott-Weekly , a Senior Producer here at CerebralFix who will be speaking at the New Zealand Game Developers Conference in October. After more than a decade leading arts and community organisations in the non-profit sector, MB will be sharing some of the learnings that she has found useful in game development. Here’s a little more about this session: “The goal of the game is: make cool stuff happen without running out of the essential things you need. Select your environment. Balance spending your time farming resources, attracting the right talent, and building up your team of creative and skilled individuals; but don’t exhaust them. The bigger you grow your team; the more you can do - but don’t build it too big or you will run out of the resources you need to run it! In this talk I will cover five useful tools and skills that have been helpful for me as a Producer in games; practical ways to apply empathy with your team, community development as a lens for game development, using non-toxic hustle to manage team burnout, creating safe spaces for uncomfortable kōrero, and my favourite practical and imperfect task-management suggestions to tame a never-ending to-do list.” Hear more at MB’s talk, “Paper & Glitter Glue Toolbox: practical learnings for game development production from the nonprofit sector” scheduled for 14:45 PM on Saturday 19th October at NZGDC 🎮

This month our team was thrilled to welcome Wiki and Taylor from Rainbow Tick Toitū Takatāpui to our space, where we hosted a regional network event with other accredited network members from Ōtautahi Christchurch. Network members include those who have gone through a thorough evaluation of workplace culture, policies, and practices by Rainbow Tick | Toitū Takatāpui. Once specific criteria are demonstrated and met, members achieve certified accreditation. CerebralFix became an accredited member for the programme in 2024. At the network event we connected and shared learnings and ideas over a delicious breakfast together. Hosting this event was a great way to share our experience with others in the network, and build strong continuing relationships. We are so proud of the work done by our team and other accredited members in the region, alongside the team at Rainbow Tick | Toitū Takatāpui, to create inclusive workplaces for members and allies of the LGBTTQIA+ community. #RainbowTick #CerebralFix #ChristchurchNZ

Today we are sharing another speaker profile for the New Zealand Game Developers Conference in October. Ben Maher is a Game Designer here at CerebralFix and his talk will share his experiences and insights from over a decade working in games: "We often build an image of people in our heads based on their job descriptor or labels like "creative." In my talk "Balancing Business and Art" I attempt to deconstruct this image and show that the skills we use in one area of game development are applicable in all areas of game development, and offer tips on how we can build a diverse skillset that we can use in any situation." Hear more at his talk “Balancing Business and Art”, scheduled for 4:50 PM on Friday 18th October at NZGDC 🎮 #NZGDC24 #CerebralFix #GameDevelopment

We are excited to share the profile of Érika Casab Senior 2D/3D Artist at CerebralFix, who will be speaking at the New Zealand Game Developers Conference in October. Here’s a little more from Érika: “The nature of a creative role is to come up with ideas. In game development, these ideas may look like concept art, game-play mechanics or a piece of code. Out of this world of ideas we create, only a few are realized and more often than not those dearest to us are shut down. In “Killing your Darlings” I’ll examine coping mechanisms to face this challenge. But most importantly how to remain passionate by loving the process over the results.” You can catch Érika’s talk, “Killing your Darlings”, scheduled for 11:55 AM on Saturday 19th October at NZGDC 🎮 #NZGDC24 #CerebralFix #GameDevelopmentCreatives

Yesterday I was a guest speaker at Rolleston college and had a talk about how I ended up being UI/UX Designer in game design studio. I had an was amazing time and I was glad to share my experience with younger people, who only started their path. It was also nice to meet new people, like Chris Flack, who has brought his wisdom and advice that I believe would help to build young generation of creative minds. Thanks for CerebralFix Limited for that opportunity, especially Simon Boxall, who organized and brought this idea to life.

We’re thrilled to have partnered with our friends at CerebralFix Limited to create a film for their groundbreaking Skyline Racing simulator. Set against the stunning backdrop of Queenstown, New Zealand, this simulator uses a custom motion platform and Unreal Engine’s photorealistic 3D environments to recreate the thrill of the Luge in a competitive multiplayer racing game. We were asked to capture that intensity and excitement and bring in a film that showcases the innovation behind the simulator and also gives viewers a taste of the real adventure that awaits them. If you’re near the Skyline Luge pavilion, be sure to check it out. We definitely needed a few extra rides to get the best takes ;) Thank you Chelsea Rapp, CerebralFix Limited and Skyline Queenstown for such fun shoot days!
