Exciting Leadership Announcement from our Antarctic community! ❄️🐧 Last month, Antarctica New Zealand announced Professor Jordy Hendrikx as the new Chief Executive of Antarctica New Zealand. ANZ is a key partner for Ōtautahi Christchurch and New Zealand's global presence in polar research and environmental leadership. Following an extensive search, Professor Hendrikx, who has been serving as Acting Chief Executive since August 2024, will now officially take the helm. With a strong background in both Antarctic and Arctic science, as well as deep expertise in cryosphere and snow science, he is well-positioned to continue Antarctica New Zealand’s legacy of scientific innovation and international collaboration. Professor Hendrikx joined Antarctica New Zealand in 2022 as Chief Scientific Advisor and has played an instrumental role in advancing scientific initiatives and representing New Zealand at global forums like COMNAP and ATCM. As a trusted partner in our community, Antarctica New Zealand continues to make strides in climate science, environmental protection, and international cooperation—and we look forward to seeing the continued positive impact under Professor Hendrikx’s leadership. 💪👏 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gC4C6BdG
