👋Today, we bid farewell to David Welsh, our GM Commercial. David has been with us for the past 3 years, after joining Fletcher Building 10 years ago at Dimond Roofing, before leading Iplex NZ, Winstone Aggregates and finally joining us at Golden Bay/Concrete Division. Over those 10 years David has left an indelible mark in each business he's lead. 🔹 David's influence extends beyond our company, having played a pivotal role in making embodied CO2 a critical topic within the industry. His efforts have brought the conversation about carbon numbers to life across asset owners, specifiers, placers and the wider concrete industry, driving significant progress in our sustainability goals. 🔹 His relentless focus on customer service and solution offerings has elevated our service standards, ensuring we consistently meet and exceed our customers' expectations. David's approachable and down-to-earth leadership style has not only made him an admired figure within our team but has also helped shape the future leaders of our organisation. 🔹 A true champion of innovation, David helped drive the establishment of our innovation lab in Christchurch, fostering a culture of creativity and forward-thinking across the division. His support for marketing initiatives has been instrumental in driving long-term growth, connecting with customers in meaningful ways, and ensuring we stand out in the market. 🙌 David, your contributions have been invaluable, and your legacy will continue to inspire us. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours and thank you for your unwavering dedication and leadership. #FarewellDavid #ThankYou #Leadership #Innovation #CustomerService #Sustainability #GoldenBay #FletcherBuilding

It was great to have Rebecca up at our Portland plant, and to share all that we're doing to help reduce carbon emissions in Aotearoa with the production of EcoSure, NZ's lowest carbon GP cement.
Nothing is off the table in the search for alternative fuels at Golden Bay cement's Portland site. The Fletcher Building owned cement manufacturer is replacing coal with used tyres and unused covid waste, such as masks and tests, as it aims to displace more than 70% of its previous coal use within the next six months. Since 2021, Golden Bay has used about 80,000 tonnes of tyres in its manufacturing process at Portland, which it said was the equivalent of diverting about 8 million car tyres from landfills. This was one of the best days I had at the "office" all year. Many thanks to Thornton Williams, Ben Marsh, Kelly Stevens and Kate Barlow, APR for showing me around.

🌟 Celebrating Charleen McCullum! 🌟 We are thrilled to spotlight Charleen McCullum, our incredible Electrical Team Leader, who has been with us for an impressive 25 years! 🎉 Charleen's journey has been nothing short of inspiring. She took a big leap from her key union role at Portland, where she passionately supported her fellow members, stepping into a leadership position. This transition was a heartfelt decision, but Charleen has thrived, driving results, motivating her team, and delivering outcomes. Her leadership truly shines in times of crisis. Charleen recently showcased her exceptional skills during the Northland power outage and an unplanned outage on the Cement Mill. She executed action plans and led her team to success, embodying our values of Be Bold and Protect. At the same time, Charleen has also focused on her personal development. Last Thursday, she graduated from the Step Up program, and we couldn't be prouder of her achievements. Join us in celebrating Charleen's dedication, resilience, and outstanding contributions! 🌟👏 #Leadership #TeamSuccess #BeBold #Protect #EmployeeSpotlight #ProudMoment

We're committed to Building a Better Future for Aotearoa, which is why we've signed the Environmental Accord and are working collaboratively across industries to improve our environmental footprint. You can read more about the accord below. #BuildaBetterFuture #EcoSure #BetterTogether
Many will be aware that the Mount Maunganui Industrial Area is an important area for Tauranga and Aotearoa, and one that is falling under increased scrutiny around its environmental footprint. This is why progress is being made with 29 businesses (so far) in the Mount Maunganui industrial area voluntarily signing an Environmental Accord. They are committed to take further action, beyond consent requirements, to improve their environmental footprint in the area. The Accord has been launched by Priority One Western Bay of Plenty, but it will be up to signatory businesses to collectively keep one another accountable to implement actions and improve their environmental impacts. It's supplemented by the ‘Mount Maunganui Industrial Blueprint’ – a document collated by Priority One that provides information on the area and sets out a pathway for the future through a set of actions.
