Eye Injuries 👁️ Eye injuries are common on construction sites. Here are some of the main causes: 💨 Flying dust and debris: Sanding, grinding, cutting, or using tools can create projectiles, dust, and small particles that can get into your eyes. 🧪 Exposure to harmful chemicals: Certain chemicals can come in the form of tiny airborne particles or splashes that can irritate or damage your eyes. 🌞 UV exposure: Working outside in direct sunlight for long periods can harm your eyes. ⚒️ Blunt trauma: Objects falling or sticking out from machinery can hit your eyes and cause injury. 🔥 Heat exposure: Being close to machinery that emits hot air or heat can also damage your eyes. To protect yourself from these risks, always wear the right eye protection for the job you are doing!

Working Safely in Isolation ⚠️ If you or your team often work alone without direct supervision, safety should always be the top priority. Here are some simple tips to keep lone workers safe: 📞 Stay Connected: Schedule daily check-ins, whether by phone, group message, or video call. A quick chat can make a big difference in staying connected and spotting potential issues. 🛠️ Equip Properly: Ensure lone workers have the right gear, like PPE, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and communication devices (e.g., cell phones, radios, or even satellite comms if truly remote). 👥 Buddy System: Pair up workers to check on each other regularly. It’s a simple way to boost safety and engagement. 🚨 Emergency Plan: Have a clear plan in place in case of an emergency. Make sure everyone knows it and tests it.

Electricity is essential on construction sites, but if the risks are not managed properly, it can pose serious dangers to people and property. Proper controls must be in place wherever electricity is used to keep everyone safe. Because we use electricity differently across a site there are different ways to help manage the risks.
