Hong Kong's economic recovery is gradual but positive since the decline from Covid. Growth slowed from 3.5% in 2022 to 3.2% in 2023, and further to 2.7% in 2024. Exports and imports increased by 6.7% and 3.2%, respectively. The 2024 GDP forecast is at 2.5-3.5%. Hong Kong's budget focuses on boosting business confidence, innovation, and infrastructure in the Greater Bay Area. For New Zealand, Hong Kong remains a key market for high-quality, sustainable products and a gateway for re-exporting goods to mainland China.
