Platform Trust this week released a report looking at the role and impact of NGOs in the mental health and addiction sector. It shines a light on the important mahi being delivered and highlights a growing workforce that deserves to be valued. NGOs employ a significant portion of the MH&A workforce and support in excess of 73,000 people with mental health or substance use needs, therefore investment in NGOs is essential for a resilient service system.

An inspiring day at the Digital Mental Health Summit! Here at Ka Puta Ka Ora Emerge Aotearoa, we believe digital technology can be a key enabler in creating more accessible and effective mental health services. That's why we were proud sponsors of the Digital Mental Health Summit held in Wellington this week. The summit saw leaders from across New Zealand's mental health, addictions, and digital health sectors come together to discuss how digital tools and platforms can better support youth mental health and addiction services. It was an honour to participate in so many inspiring discussions, with an eye to leveraging digital to build a more sustainable mental health delivery landscape in Aotearoa. We don't just talk the talk, however. We walk the walk. In 2020, we launched our Ignite digital health platform ignite.org.nz to empower both individuals and organisations to take control of their wellbeing journey. We do this through proactively accessing support when, where and how people need it. We're also investing in mental health innovation through our innovation hub, which in the last 12 months has included programmes such as a Virtual Reality (VR) trial to reduce vaping in rangatahi. Thank you to everyone who attended, to Minister for Mental Health Hon Matt Doocey for hosting the event, and to the Digital Health Association for making the day happen.
