About us
Based in Auckland’s North, Kaipātiki Project is a not-for-profit, environmental organisation inspiring people to share in nature’s revival and live lightly on this planet. Along with over 800 volunteers annually, we run a thriving native plant nursery where we grow 40,000+ native trees every year and plant them back in the local reserves. We facilitate forest, stream and estuary regeneration days, promote zero waste and encourage local food initiatives. Join our volunteering whānau and connect with others who share your environmental values and purpose. We have volunteering opportunities for businesses, individuals and families, schools and youth groups and community groups. Mo te ao, mo te whanau, mo tatou katoa. For the world, for our families, for all of us.

Kaipātiki Project reposted this
We wrote a Native Nursery Guide ! Available now online, it's focused on nurseries looking to improve planning, capacity and quality. It's a how to or not for those considering starting a nursery either down the drive way at home or the 500, 5000 or a 1 million plants model. The princples are the same start with what's your Kaupapa. Many thanks to David Bowden - Urban Ngahere team at Auckland Council for their ongoing support of Kaitiaki and Community nurseries
“A healthy urban ngahere (forest) is a wonderful natural asset for the city and helps to create a healthy living environment with many social, cultural, economic, and environmental benefits.” #urban #ngahere #forest #auckland #aucklandcouncil

Planting Season Wrap-Up 🌱 This season, we’re proud to have hosted seven community planting days across five local reserves, alongside eight corporate planting days and three school planting days. Thanks to the collective efforts of our dedicated volunteers, 3,838+ native plants—carefully nurtured in our nursery—are now taking root in our local ngahere. The work doesn’t stop at planting. Our team is committed year-round to collecting seeds, raising them in our nursery, and battling invasive species in the bush, all to ensure the ongoing regeneration of our natural environment. A special thank you to Auckland Council, Kaipātiki Local Board, Foundation North, Glasgow Contractors, The Stout Trust by Perpetual Guardian, Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities and Eke Panuku Development Auckland for their vital support. We're also grateful to everyone who contributed through our Gift-a-Tree service and to the many volunteers who joined us in the field. We’d like to give a special mention to the determined participants of our Gift-a-Tree Planting Day, who planted 200 trees in the soaking rain—you truly embody the spirit of our mission. Together, we're making a tangible impact on our environment, one plant at a time. Thank you for being part of this journey with us. 🌍💚 #CommunityPlanting #RegenerateNZ #Sustainability #NativePlants #EcoAction #PlantingForTheFuture #KaipatikiProject #CorporateSocialResponsibility #EnvironmentalStewardship

We are delighted to have our new ESG partner the Kaipātiki Project live on the JCDecaux network this week as part of the JCDecaux HEART programme. Kaipātiki are an innovative EcoHub based on Auckland’s North Shore. The project operates a thriving native plant nursery and facilitates native ngahere, stream, and estuary regeneration with the vision of restoring New Zealand’s native plants, birds, bugs, and fish to regenerate the planet. The JCDecaux NZ team had a day of corporate volunteering with Kaipātiki Project last year which inspired the team to make them a formal part of the JCDecaux HEART programme.
