Today we've released findings from our State of Home Ownership report which shows 85% of Kiwi want to own their own home, but 32% believe it will never happen. NZers are becoming more open to creative solutions to getting on the property ladder with most Kiwi believing we need to think differently about home ownership options in New Zealand. 💚 More on RNZ 👉 https://lnkd.in/g_rUERFa

Meet Joe Tongotea 👋, one of our Auckland based Mobile Mortgage Managers, helping Ciaran and Ben buy a house together on this week’s episode of On the Ladder with Kiwibank. With 25 years of lending experience, Joe is an expert in helping her customers navigate the complexities of the property market. Joe’s top tips for Kiwi looking to buy their next home 🏘 💚 Get started by gathering information. 💚 Establish what your financial position looks like – draw up a budget and figure out how you’re going to get your next home. This can all be done through talking to the experts, and using our range of home loan calculators, so you’re fully equipped to get started. 💚 Don’t rule anything out. Houses get bought and sold over time. You might have a vision of your ideal home, but sometimes you need to work your way up to that, and that can be done over time. 💚 Work out why you want to buy your next home. That can really set the scene for you working towards your goal. It also ensures that everything is aligned and helps you to achieve your goal, rather than losing momentum along the way. Supporting Kiwi and our communities is an important part of our Purpose, ‘Kiwi making Kiwi better off’. Our Auckland based Frontline Op Risk & Compliance team used their Better Off Day to volunteer at New Zealand Food Network last week. The team packed up 252 boxes and moved a total of over 4,536kgs of food. That's more than 10,080 meal equivalents going into the community, and saved from going to landfill ♻ Learn more about the NZ Food Network here -https://lnkd.in/grQPrkYB #ThisIsKiwbank #BetterOffDay

Meet Normita Beeching 👋, one of our Banking Specialists starring in this week’s episode of On Ladder with Kiwibank, helping Paula and Gordon get on the property ladder. Normita started her career in banking about 17 years ago – first in a call centre doing personal and home loans before moving into the branch network. She’s been at Kiwibank for three years as a Banking Specialist in our Botany branch. Normita’s top tips for getting On the Ladder 🏘 💚 Find a specialist that you trust, who takes the time to understand your goals and who can help you to manage your finances to reach your goals. This specialist can help to make you more aware of what you’ve got coming in and going out. They can also talk you through all the expenses you’ll need to cover when you own a house, like rates, maintenance, and insurance. 💚 Do your research and seek guidance. Don’t rush important decisions. 💚Lastly, enjoy the ride! House hunting, especially with someone else, is not always easy. You may have different likes and dislikes, or you may not find a house that meets your standards. These are normal ups and downs of the journey. There is always a house out there for you. Just keep looking. Read more about Normita’s story on our website 👉https://lnkd.in/g8hEUm8q Watch On the Ladder with Kiwibank on Three and ThreeNow 📺

Changes are coming soon to help protect customers from scams and reduce errors when making payments 💚 We're working alongside the wider NZ banking industry on Confirmation of Payee - a service to give customers more information before making payments. Soon, customers will be able to check that an account owner’s name matches the account number when making certain payments by seeing if the name is a match, partial match, or no match. This will be available in internet banking and our app. The service will provide greater assurance that payments are being sent to the right person or organisation. We'll be rolling this out to our Kiwibank customers in groups, starting from late November. For more information on the Confirmation of Payee service visit 👉 https://lnkd.in/gp4DsR5n
