We’re excited to spotlight Vern, our Te Puna Oranga Regenerator, who has crafted a sustainable litter picker using materials found locally. This innovative approach not only demonstrates resourcefulness but also underscores the impact of small, creative solutions in environmental conservation. It’s a reminder that everyone can contribute to a greener future with thoughtful, practical ideas. Let’s all be inspired by Vern’s example! 🌱

Last week, we engaged with @531pi radio to discuss the recent funding cuts impacting our community social workers. These reductions, part of the Government's cost-saving initiatives, have been framed as efforts to eliminate "inefficiencies and wasteful spending." However, when we consider these so-called inefficiencies, we see the families and communities who rely on these essential services. Even with these funding cuts, our commitment to supporting whānau, parents, rangatahi, and tamariki remains. While these reductions present challenges, we are determined to navigate them and continue our vital work. A budget may reflect financial decisions, but our dedication to the well-being and future of the community is our true priority. Together, we’ll adapt and keep moving forward, ensuring that we stay focused on what really matters. Auckland Council Foundation North

From Destiny's first waste audit taken from Lil Champs Mangere Bridge participating in her Sustainable ECE program, she looked at 1 day’s worth of waste. Out of 30 kgs, only 4.8 kgs were correctly diverted. 10 kgs were nappies. However, that meant a large amount of items were incorrectly disposed of. After our waste program, we followed the same procedure. Only 14.1 kgs made it to landfill. 12 kgs was nappies (rightfully).
