👁️Today is #WorldSightDay, a day to raise awareness about the importance of eye care - with a focus this year on children's eye health. Every day, young people miss out on learning and social opportunities because of a vision issue that could be treated, corrected and often cured. And so we’re reminded of our mission to end preventable blindness by building usable, accessible and affordable diagnostic devices. International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) says: • Children in low-and-middle income countries with vision loss are 2-5x less likely to be in school. 🏫 • 450 million children have a sight condition the requires treatment, with many unable to access affordable, available eye care. 👓 Parents, caregivers, and educators play a vital role in safeguarding children's vision - reducing a child's screen time and encouraging outdoor activities can help prevent myopia (short-sightedness), while conducting regular eye checks are key to early detection of vision issues. World Sight Day serves as a reminder to us all to prioritize eye health by taking screen breaks and using protective eyewear. Let’s commit to safeguarding children's vision for a brighter future. 🌱 #loveyoureyes #endpreventableblindness #childeyehealth #accessibleeyecare #IAPB #WHO

🚨 Exciting News from oDocs Eye Care! 🚨 Our research team has just published an exciting study in Nature Portfolio's Scientific Reports journal! The article, titled "A Comparative Evaluation of Deep Learning Approaches for Ophthalmology", explores the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in transforming ophthalmic care. What makes this study even more exciting is that the entire AI development process—training, testing, and validation—was powered by our proprietary platform, MedicMind AI Portal. 🔍 MedicMind AI Portal is designed with medical researchers, clinicians, and academic institutions in mind. It’s a simple yet powerful drag-and-drop platform that allows users to upload training images and select from a variety of classifiers to build their own AI models. The best part? It’s completely free, and you retain full ownership of your data. Whether you're exploring deep learning for medical image classification or pushing the boundaries of healthcare innovation, MedicMind makes it easier than ever. 👉 Access MedicMind here: www.medicmind.tech Join us in revolutionizing eye care with the power of AI! 🧠👁️ #AIinHealthcare #Ophthalmology #DeepLearning #MedicalInnovation #Research #EyeCare #MedicMind #oDocsEyeCare #ScientificReports

Congrats Sheng Chiong Hong FRANZCO! 2024 HRC Explorer Grant #research #grant #hrc #eyecare
Exciting news to share! Honored to announce that I've been awarded a research grant by the HRC, marking a significant step forward in ophthalmology for New Zealand. As the first NZ ophthalmologist to embark on this endeavor, I'll be pioneering cultured corneal endothelial cell therapy, aiming to introduce a groundbreaking technique to our country. With this grant, my team and I will focus on validating a novel approach to treating corneal dysfunction through cultured corneal endothelial cell therapy. Unlike traditional methods, this therapy isn't just another addition to existing treatments; it's a disruptive innovation poised to revolutionize the field by potentially replacing the need for endothelial keratoplasty. In the near future, procedures like DSAEK and DMEK could become relics of the past, supplanted by a simpler solution: a straightforward injection into the anterior chamber. Over the next 24 months, I'll collaborate closely with the New South Wales (Sydney) Tissue Bank and the Anatomy department of the University of Otago, leveraging their expertise to advance this pioneering research. Beyond the realm of medicine, it's crucial to underscore the importance of organ donation, particularly cornea donation. As eye care providers, raising awareness about this vital aspect of healthcare remains paramount. Together, we're not just advancing science; we're also advocating for the gift of sight through organ donation. Acknowledging pioneers and prior work done by Prof Shigeru Kinoshita, Assoc.Prof Constantinos Petsoglou, Li Wen, staff at the NSW Tissue Bank. https://lnkd.in/ghc-zf6k
