Ministry of Awesome do amazing work with so many startups 🌱 (avoided saying awesome, but that’s also true…). Got any stories about how they’ve supported you and how? Down here this morning for two hours answering startups questions joined by Yang Su from our team. We love supporting this kaupapa. In comments is a conversation with Marian Johnson on what MOA do and also an article I wrote for Spinoff. (And thanks for holding the sign Ben Erskine - great marketing skills ha ha). - - - Seeds Podcast now has 413 episodes while Board Matters Podcast has 25 🍎🌳

Really enjoyed my conversation with Hannah Duder on her life story for Seeds Podcast 🌱 It’s so nice to hear life journey and see comments for link - hear is what she said: “I have listened to the stories of many inspiring people on Steven Moe’s podcast Seeds. It was an eye opening experience being on the other side and being interviewed. If you’re interested in hearing about my first 32 years of life squished into an hour check it out 😅” If you know Hannah why not drop a comment below or story of how she has impacted you or others! There are also two excerpt episodes if you want shorter ones: - 🌊 One on the first 10 years of her career which have been a bit like the braided rivers of Canterbury - 🌿 And one about the journey she has been on to discover her Whakapapa. - - - This is one of 413 episodes of Seeds Podcast 🌱

Attending the Selwyn District Council launch of the new Waikirikiri Selwyn Economic Development Strategy. This is the fastest growing region in the country (and I live here too). 🌱 See comments for link to the report. Some key points: - former Seeds Podcast guest (oh, and Selwyn Mayor too) Sam Broughton asked “what’s in your hands” and how we can use those things in delivering on the policy (link to his seeds episode in comments) - “let’s start and begin new things” - Johny O'Donnell (JOD) shared that this was developed through community consultation with breakfasts and many other events and over 250 businesses contributed to the strategy. - Economist Benje Patterson shared about the growth recently - from 50,000 to 80,000+ in just a few years, and now with 2/3 in urban areas - Optimism bias is evident - businesses here still are planning to invest and grow - a strategy will help this - CEO Sharon Mason shared “we have to start thinking intergenerationally”, thinking of our future in 50 years time… - Dr Liz Brown shared from Te Taumutu Runanga and noted the strategy involved working together for a shared vision and introduced the name of “Kai Aku Rika” He toki ki te raki, he ko ki te whenua, he pito mata ki aku rika. Carve it in the sky, ground it in the earth, the potential is in our hands. - - - Have you heard some of the 413 episodes of Seeds Podcast 🌱 See link in comments Nick Carter Denise W. Founder of Inspirators: transformative storytelling on regenerative leadership * Co-Creator of Community Index Magazine: the only sustainability magazine in Romania * Consultant for Sustainability Thought Leaders

In Latin, “inspirare” means “to breathe or blow into” - to guide, move, and shift energies. Unsurprisingly, many early meanings of the word connect with spirit and life itself. New Zealand has mastered the art of infusing vitality: the traditional Māori greeting, the hongi, where two people press noses and foreheads together, embodies the exchange of the “hā”, the breath of life, in a powerful symbol of unity. Even “aroha” - or love - holds the essence of “hā”, the life force that animates souls. During my time spent in Aotearoa, I set out to find more Inspirators for our storytelling series: www.inspirators.org My goal was to discover the “Kiwinspirators”, the regenerators, creatives, and sustainability change-makers who breathe more life into their communities and understand what makes New Zealand’s unique culture stand out on the world stage. I went on a quest for bold ideas and impactful initiatives, interviewing incredible luminaries - from Māori visionaries with great mana, to curious Kiwis and courageous souls who have chosen Aotearoa as their second home, amazing humans from South Africa, Germany, the UK, Argentina, and beyond. Each took time to reflect on what it means to contribute to New Zealand’s thriving sustainability ecosystem. Feel free to download the PDF document to explore the full interviews with: ♥ Frances Valintine - Author of “Future You”; Education Futurist; Founder, academyEXBradley Hook - Author of “Start With Values”; Podcast Host; Head of Resilience Lab, Resilience InstituteIzzy Fenwick - Environmentalist; Founder, Futureful; Guardian, The Aotearoa CircleSteven Moe - Author of “The Apple Tree”; Founder, Seeds Podcast; Partner, Parry Field LawyersHinemoa Elder - Author of "AROHA” & “Wawata”; Psychiatrist ♥ Jennifer Wilkins - Founder, Heliocene Post Growth ConsultancyWilliam Trubridge Trubdrige - “World's Deepest Man”; Founder, Vertical BlueGabriela Nuri Baron - Founder, Design 4 Conservation; Lecturer & Associate Dean, Sustainability, The University of AucklandStephanie Defregger - Soul Photographer for People of Impact ♥ Freda Wells - Chief Curator, The Kiwi Diary, Goodlife CollectiveMerata Kawharu - Author of "Whāriki"; Professor, University of Otago I want to become an active part of New Zealand’s sustainability ecosystem. Storytelling has the power to shape inner and outer change, and I’d love to bring my expertise to this corner of the world to boost innovation and build global partnerships. As a regenerative storyteller, I can amplify the voices of those thought leaders driving real change and building the next generation of impact-driven businesses. Help me spotlight some other brilliant “Kiwinspirators”! Who are the New Zealanders who inspire you? Who is leading the way in regeneration? If you have any connections, tag them in the comments or DM me! I’d love to hear from you! #inspirators #kiwinspirators

    Futures Aunty @Think Beyond

Last week I attended the Asia Pacific Futures Network Conference in Bangkok. It was a great opportunity to catch up with futures colleagues, old and new! I took some copies of one of my favourite books The Apple Tree, written by amazing Ōtautahi networker, lawyer and podcaster Steven Moe. When I received my first copy of The Apple Tree I immediately connected it as a futures book, a book on sowing the seeds for future generations and on being a good ancestor. It's a great book for anyone and I am pleased that a copy is now in six different countries! Thailand Adam Sharpe, APF, Taiwan Nur Anisah PhD, Phillipines Shiela R. Castillo Ⓥ, Vanuatu Sarah M., Singapore Jawn Lim 林智兴 and Kenya Steven Lichty. A link to the book is in the comments. You can also leave a story about “who has been the Apple Tree in your life?” It is also available in Chinese.
