When he's not delivering an IPS workshop or conducting a fidelity review, you'll find Work Counts implementation manager Robert Williams in Manukau - feeling quite settled in at the recently refurbished Harakeke House! It's great for Work Counts to be based in the South Auckland community, connected to mental health service providers, and in turn other agencies who are doing so much to support people with their health and wellbeing. We're pleased to be offering Three Cups of Tea employer development training in Dunedin - in the South Island for the first time! If you or members of your team are in need of IPS employment support training, our November dates are open for registration on our website: https://lnkd.in/gaM7ZPc8 These will be the last Work Counts training dates for 2024!

Thank you to all that attended today’s Work Counts webinar presented by Moira Wilson. Following on from the research publication earlier this month in The New Zealand Medical Journal, the webinar highlights a complex research study that has taken place over the last few years.   It was great to see such a breadth of people and organisations represented at the webinar – from New Zealand and beyond. The presentation prompted some great questions from attendees.   Work Counts will be sharing more information and continuing the conversation so that the research can be of benefit, not only here in Aotearoa but other places as well. https://lnkd.in/gWQB8fv9 #IPSEmploymentSupport #EvidenceBased #Research #Impact

A paper newly published in the The New Zealand Medical Journal on 6 September contains clear messages about the effectiveness of employment support in Aotearoa. The article, based on research conducted by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), explains the impacts of IPS employment support on key social indicators. Warren Elwin says the study demonstrates both social impact and financial return. “The study is historically significant not just for the opportunity to provide findings and observations for the government's social investment approach here in New Zealand, but also internationally where IPS employment support is present. It’s also as close to a randomised controlled trial (RCT) as you can get.” Read more on our website: https://lnkd.in/gWQB8fv9 #EvidenceBased #IPSEmploymentSupport #NewZealandMedicalJournal #NewZealandResearch

Yes, employment is a health intervention. And so too, is housing. If this is something you're curious about, keep an eye on the work being done between Workwise, LinkPeople and The People's Project (part of the Wise Group).

Last week saw our general manager Tyron Pini presenting at the Housing First Auckland National Community of Practice. He was there talking about housing and employment, alongside our friends at LinkPeople. “It was great to be learning more about Housing First, talking with other providers and understanding how housing and employment can continue to work together to support the people who use our services. There are definitely a lot of crossovers. There’s also a lot to be done with current research to support further conversations.” Here at Workwise, we think that one of the most effective ways to ensure long-term stability for people is by integrating employment support with housing support. Both employment and housing are a health intervention. Soon, we’ll be sharing some results to show how far we’ve come. #EndHomelessness #Collaboration #WorkingTogether #IPSEmploymentSupport

A big thank you to all who attended our coming together moment for IPS Practitioners at the end of July. This was the first chance in a long time for IPS employment consultants to get together from across Auckland. Like us, many of you may have been surprised to see how many people and organisations are offering IPS across the Auckland region!   Time was taken to discuss the fidelity reviews coming up for some providers. We unpacked various questions and concerns about the intent of the fidelity reviews, which hopefully others found useful too.   People really enjoyed networking on the day, so don’t forget to reach out to the people you met - and keep connecting with others in your area. Let us know your ideas for next time we meet, and any specific topics you’d like to see covered. For those who enquired about Work Counts training, make sure you register your interest in advance. Some workshops are in high demand and places can be limited! https://lnkd.in/gnAppiXs

Recently, Work Counts hosted a coming together moment for leaders and IPS coordinators working in IPS employment support. It was a pleasure sharing knowledge and spending time with Auckland leaders in IPS employment support from Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Ember, Emerge Aotearoa Group, Mahitahi Trust, Odyssey and Workwise. 🤝 As well as time for whakawhanaungatanga, we learned more about fidelity reviews, including how to support employment consultants to make the most of the process to showcase excellence in their work and identify areas for development, where needed. ℹ We shared updates from across the sector and talked about the importance of IPS as an evidence-based practice. 💡 We talked about some great opportunities for collaboration between providers – and it was special to have some of the brightest minds in IPS all together in one room! Work Counts looks forward to organising the next IPS supervisor gathering in the near future. Image: Attendees at the IPS Supervisor Gathering, 29 July 2024
