📢 NPL Assay Lab Preps Toward Re-accreditation New Porgera Limited (NPL) is currently working towards re-accreditation to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard for Testing and Calibration Laboratories. This accreditation demonstrates our commitment to operational excellence and valid results, fostering trust and confidence among our clients and partners, both locally and globally. ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation is essential for establishing a robust quality management system, enhancing our ability to deliver precise chemical testing results. It also promotes international collaboration by ensuring that our test reports and certificates are widely accepted across borders, thus facilitating smoother global trade. We would like to express our gratitude to the Papua New Guinea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (PNGLAS) for hosting a valuable 4-day training on the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard specifically on the Quality Management System , Method Validation and Verification, Internal Audit and Measurement Uncertainty . Six members of our diverse team, representing various levels of expertise—from Local Technicians to Senior Chemists—attended this training in Port Moresby from October 7-10. Papua New Guinea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (PNGLAS) a division under the National Institute of Standards and Industrial Technology (NISIT) is the National Scheme responsible for facilitating and providing Laboratory Accreditation in PNG. As we prepare for the re-accreditation process set for Quarter 1 2025, we are committed to implementing the knowledge and skills gained from this training. Our team is working closely with PNGLAS to conduct external audits and assessments, ensuring that we meet the revised standards effectively. Together, we are paving the way for a more competent and trusted laboratory service! NPL’s Assay Lab Accreditation expired in March 2021. NPL assists Porgera Secondary School with Grade 10 and 12 examinations   With the current Mulitaka road closure and despite its own logistical challenges, New Porgera Limited has stepped in to ensure that the Grade 10 and 12 students of the Porgera Valley are able to sit their national exams this year. NPL believes in education as an important pillar for Porgera’s future and provided this important support as an investment in Porgera’s long term future.   On Sunday 13th October, NPL provided air logistic support to the National Department of Education and the Enga Provincial Government to bring in Grade 12 exam papers for the Porgera Secondary School along with three external invigilators from Wabag. NPL also recently assisted in the transportation of completed Grade 10 exam papers for the Porgera Secondary School back to Wabag.   External Invigilator Peter Epoko expressed his gratitude today towards New Porgera Limited for enabling the students of Porgera to partake in the national examinations despite the challenges they’ve faced in recent months in the valley.   NPL wishes the Grade 12s all the best in their national examinations this week!
