𝗘𝗥𝗧 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹 ICTSI employees and contractor personnel demonstrated a swift and effective response to simulated earthquake, fire, and medical emergency scenarios at a comprehensive emergency preparedness drill at the ICTSI Administration Building last 29 October. The drill, led by Global HSSE and the Emergency Response Team (ERT), also involved volunteers from various Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) and Global Corporate departments. Spanning 29 minutes, the drill saw building occupants successfully evacuate building floors in just four minutes, earning praise from both the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Philippine Red Cross for their rapid response. "We are pleased with the overall performance of our employees and contractors alike," said Edmundo Trazo, Global HSSE Director. "Their active participation and quick response time highlight their commitment to safety and preparedness." The drill also served as an opportunity to identify areas for improvement. Observers noted the need for clearer markings at designated assembly points to avoid confusion during evacuations. Additionally, the drill highlighted the need for separate response teams dedicated to medical and fire emergencies. "Drills are crucial for strengthening our emergency response capabilities," Trazo emphasized. "We will address the observations from the BFP, Red Cross, and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) to ensure we are fully prepared for any situation." The BFP complimented the firefighting team, who demonstrated their skills in the use of fire hose and nozzle for a simulated helipad fire incident, creating patterns such as wide-angle fog spray for radiant heat protection and straight steam for penetration. The Red Cross, meanwhile, commended employees for having personal Go Kits readily available, reinforcing the importance of individual preparedness. ICTSI will continue to conduct regular drills and refine emergency response protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of employees, contractors, and customers.
