It is mandatory for pharmaceutical products to be injected directly into the bloodstream or to be administered via eye drops or nasal sprays to be dissolved in high-purity water (WFI). Using filtration & distillation, the water is produced & then temporarily stored in tanks after being filtered & distilled. As a process component that has direct contact with the medium, sterility, & clean-ability must be considered as essential criteria. Most pharmaceutical products, including drugs & vaccines, are held in batch-filling holding tanks, ready for injection vials, under absolutely sterile conditions. After every batch, an autoclaving procedure is used to sterilize the holding tank completely. During this procedure, the sensor is exposed to a pressure of 2.5 bar and a temperature of 130 °C for at least 30 minutes.
