We get it—tests can feel like gatekeepers, and with the added costs, they don’t always seem like a smart investment. But here’s the truth: if English isn’t your country’s native language, you’ll need to take an English proficiency test (like IELTS or TOEFL) to secure admission abroad, no matter how fluent you are. Yes, there are exceptions. Some universities accept a letter from your previous institution if your last degree was in English. But these universities are rare, and if you’re aiming for a broader range of options, you’ll want to have your IELTS score ready. To maximize your chances of acceptance, we recommend taking your IELTS 8-9 months before your course starts.
