Habib Metropolitan Bank (Subsidiary of AG Zurich) Habib Metropolitan Bank has generously gifted a The Citizens Foundation TCF secondary school to the local community living around Habib Farm, Kohsar, Hyderabad. This is a marginalized community where many people survive by laboring to support their families, and access to quality education has always been a challenge. While TCF has been running a primary school in the area, there was a desperate need for a secondary school, as there wasn’t a single one within a 3 km radius. Studies show that if a school is more than 500 meters away, the dropout rate for girls increases by 15%. With the construction of this new school, the local community, especially girls, now has easy access to secondary education, opening doors to a brighter future. Considering the fact that Pakistan is facing an educational crisis, with 26 million children still out of school, we should follow the example set by Habib Metropolitan Bank and work towards constructing new schools. There are many banks operating in Pakistan, and they too should come forward to show their solidarity with our nation by contributing to the education of Pakistan’s children.
