Our report, “The Missing Third of Pakistan,” reveals that literacy - the ability of an individual to read and write basic text in any language and make simple calculations - is lowest among women in Balochistan, making them one of the the most vulnerable demographic in the country against poverty, maternal and infant mortality, abuse and early marriage among other issues.

Not a single woman in sight in the new policy board formed by Ministry of Planning and Development in Pakistan to help steer all policy decisions at the highest level in the country. I am sure you will add them as an after thought, the question is why not in the first place. And of course no representation to other vulnerable populations and genders. I hope we can remember 'we cannot solve our problems with the same thinking that led to them happening in the first place'.

Meet the inimitable Rashida Bibi, electrician, plumber and entrepreneur. For a STEAM Safeer session, Rashida Bibi taught students of GGES13/14L Chak #13/14L Chichawatni, Sahiwal, how to use basic electrical equipment and how to check the current in a circuit using a cheap tester. She also shared her experience running a small repair shop with her husband and educated students on safety precautions to be taken when handling electrical equipment, like using plastic gloves, ensuring hands are not wet and always using a tester. One of our favourite Safeer sessions so far!
With each passing day, the need for action becomes more pressing in #Pakistan, as evidenced by the concerning trends outlined in United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)’s recent report on reproductive health. We must act decisively to support women’s reproductive health rights, and realize the importance of investing in #FamilyPlanning, #SexEducation initiatives, and #ReproductiveHealthcare.
We stand unwavering in our commitment to fight for justice – for those waiting, wronged, or whose lives were unjustly taken. Today, our thoughts once again turn to #NoorMukaddam, a victim of unspeakable brutality whose perpetrator remains unpunished. Justice delayed is justice denied, and we refuse to let Noor's memory fade without accountability. We advocate, we pray, and we demand justice not only for her but for all victims of violence.
