🚨 #BREAKING: This is a code red for nature. Species population numbers have plummeted by 73% on average since 1970.  This is getting worse over time, when it should be getting better. Vital ecosystems are on the brink of collapse. We’re dangerously close to tipping points, where the damage to our planet will cause irreversible impacts on all our lives. We must turn things around immediately. Urgent action is needed now – not tomorrow or next year. . 🗣 Share this video to #ActForOurPlanet #LPR2024 #LivingPlanetReport

WWF-Pakistan recently launched the Green School Programme at Crescent Model Higher Secondary School, kicking off with three exciting activities. These included a visit to Green Earth Recycling (GER), a facility that recycles plastic PET bottles, TetraPak, and mixed waste, along with creative wall murals, a paper mache workshop, and an insightful workshop on Natural Disaster Management. Students visited GER to learn about the importance of recycling and the fight against plastic pollution. In the Climate Change and Natural Disasters Workshop, around 60 students from grades 6-7 participated in a thought-provoking activity that highlighted the link between climate change and natural disasters, and proposed solutions to mitigate the impact of these disasters. The Paper Mache Workshop focused on the importance of recycling paper waste by encouraging students to turn their own discarded paper into useful everyday items, fostering creativity and environmental responsibility. Through these activities, we aim to empower students with knowledge and practical skills to address environmental challenges and take action for a sustainable future.

WWF-Pakistan, with the support of the Engro Foundation and in collaboration with the Sindh Fisheries Department, conducted a training session to equip fisherwomen with essential skills for sustainable aquaculture-based livelihoods. Through this initiative, they learned how to establish aquaculture farms, build relationships with dealers, and secure microcredit for entrepreneurship. By developing these skills, the women can now earn a stable livelihood while reducing the burden on wild fish stocks in the core habitat of the Indus River dolphin. Their efforts will help in promoting sustainable fisheries. Together, we're empowering communities while safeguarding our wildlife! #TogetherPossible #SustainableLivelihoods #WWFPakistan #IndusDolphin #Conservation

Plastic pollution is one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time, threatening ecosystems, marine life, and human health! WWF-Pakistan has launched the Plastic Recovery Bank (PRB) Project, in collaboration with Pakistan Beverage Limited (PBL), aiming to transform plastic waste management across academic institutions like the University of Karachi, Institute of Business Administration, and Sindh Madarsatul Islam University. By engaging students and recyclers, the initiative promotes better waste segregation and fosters a circular economy for plastics. We also introduced the "Stars of the Planet" Challenge at Beaconhouse School System, engaging 20 schools in awareness sessions. Students will design innovative projects to improve plastic collection and recycling, with the top three ideas receiving grant funding to bring their solutions to life. Furthering our efforts, the beach cleanup at Karachi’s coast, involving 120 students and environmental advocates, demonstrated the power of collective action to preserve marine ecosystems. Through all these efforts, supported by our collaboration with Pakistan Beverage Limited (PBL), we are working towards a more sustainable, plastic-free future for Pakistan! #TogetherPossible #PlasticFreeFuture #Sustainability #NoPlasticInNature #WWFPakistan
