🌍 Did you know that the mass of plastics on Earth is now more than double the mass of all living animals? As PE representatives, these staggering figures underscore our responsibility to consider how our actions impact the planet. Recently, our Co-Founders and Managing Partners Gosia Bobrowska and Ryszard Wojtkowski attended the Ugly Duck venture capital conference hosted by the European Investment Fund (EIF), where they joined Europe’s venture capital community for two days of insightful conversations, gaining valuable takeaways and new perspectives. The ecological challenges we face are severe. Today, human-made structures outweigh all living biomass, and we are consuming resources at a rate four times what Earth can regenerate. Real change requires not only structural shifts but also a fundamental reevaluation of how we direct investments. This is where the private sector plays a crucial role, and we must act now, rather than deferring action due to constraints. At Resource Partners, we prioritize ESG principles not only within our own operations, but also by encouraging our portfolio companies to assess and enhance their environmental impact. A strong example is 7ANNA Group Sp. z o.o, where we are committed to eliminating plastic use, an initiative that led to an ESG nomination from PSIK, the Polish Private Equity & Venture Capital Association in 2023. This demonstrates that ESG-focused investments not only support sustainability but also drive financial gains over time. This commitment to ESG at Resource Partners, combined with our proactive approach, has not only positioned us as leaders in the PE space but also earned us a prestigious award at the Private Equity Wire ESG Awards.

How do we define success? Miruna Sophia Popa, our Investment Manager and Board Member of the Level20 Romanian Chapter, explored this very question at a thought-provoking event organized by Level 20 Romania. Joined by other private equity professionals, she delved into discussions on leadership and gender diversity. Read the insights from the event below!
On October 17th, Level 20 Romania organized "How do we define sucess?", an event hosted by KPMG Romania and supported by ROPEA, bringing together Private Equity professionals to discuss leadership and gender diversity. We were honored to have the special guest speaker, Ms. Camelia Drăgoi, Senior Mandate Manager at European Investment Fund (EIF), who presented EIF’s new Gender-Smart Equity Investment Programme, aimed at boosting gender diversity in the investment sector. “Let’s change the mindset when it comes to gender diversity in teams!” concluded Ms. Dragoi. Speakers Ramona Jurubita, Country Managing Partner at KPMG Romania, Raluca Nita, Level 20 Romania Board Member and Managing Director at Highlander Partners and Andrei Gemeneanu, ROPEA Board Member and Managing Partner at Morphosis Capital, shared their insights into leadership and inclusive cultures in an interactive panel moderated by Miruna Sophia Popa, Level 20 Romania Board Member and Investment Manager at Resource Partners. Here’s what stood out from the conversation: 💡 In Romania, the female representation in private equity is encouraging, while in venture capital there’s still work to do; 💡 The level of junior women professionals is solid (over 20%), yet women are significantly underrepresented in senior positions at private equity firms. We explored the various reasons behind this phenomenon and concluded that a way to support women getting promoted to senior positions is to help them create an ecosystem at work & at home which enables them to take care of their families while also succeeding in private equity; 💡 Diversity brings a variety of perspectives and skills to the table, enabling PE/VC teams progress faster and work more effectively; 💡Organizations need to offer a culture of support and psychological safety; 💡 Femininity in business? It’s a strength! 👩💼 A huge thank you to all our speakers, to Level 20 Romania members who joined the event, to KPMG Romania for partnering and hosting us and to ROPEA, the Romanian Private Equity Association, for its ongoing support. Special thanks to Andrei Gemeneanu for bravely opening Level 20 to male audiences and for closing the event with these words: “If you are fortunate enough to meet a career-focused woman, you can bet she will move mountains!” Feel free to share your thoughts and experiences from our event in the comments below! #privateequity #level20

The I'GS In Good Strategy Franczyza 2.0 Conference Organized by Monika Ferreira has wrapped up, and our Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Aleksander Kacprzyk, PhD, had the pleasure of participating in an engaging panel discussion on private equity and franchising. Co-Founder & Managing Partner at Resource Partners Chairman of University Council at Wroclaw Medical University
Last week, I had the privilege of joining the I'GS In Good Strategy Franczyza 2.0 Conference. It was a fantastic opportunity to sit on a panel with Jacek Dojnikowski (Bułkę przez Bibułkę), Edward Kacyrz, Agnieszka Małkiewicz (FOR), Piotr Popiński (Grupa GOOD FOOD) and Marek Cynowski (our moderator from Rebel Tank). Together, we dove into the topic of why private equity finds franchising models so appealing. So, what did we conclude? Franchising is attractive to private equity because it offers scalability, a proven business model, operational efficiency, and strong potential for expansion. While the restaurant sector is well-positioned for franchising, it's still underused in Poland. The main hurdles? Ensuring consistent product and service quality, effectively managing franchise networks, and structuring a financial model that creates a win-win for both franchisors and franchisees. During my keynote presentation, I shared insights on how partnering with private equity can reignite growth by: 1️⃣ Focusing on delivering shareholder value, benefiting both founders and the fund. 2️⃣ Bringing in the expertise needed to accelerate sustainable growth, enhance management teams, and stay ahead of market shifts. 3️⃣ Offering flexibility in transaction structures and roles post-investment, while collaborating closely with shareholders and management. Congratulations to Monika Ferreira for organizing this wonderful event!

🔎 What are the key similarities and major differences between investing in Western Europe and the Central and Eastern European markets? Our Co-Founder, Managing Partner, and President of the PSIK, the Polish Private Equity & Venture Capital Association, Gosia Bobrowska, had the pleasure of speaking at the 7th Annual Private Equity Europe Forum in London, organized by Markets Group. After the event, she shared valuable insights from the panel discussions. Check out the video below to hear her thoughts directly ⤵️
"Even in a challenging year for the industry, exit activity in Central Eastern Europe was actually up." Speaking from the sidelines of our Private Equity Europe Forum in London, Gosia Bobrowska, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Resource Partners and President of the PSIK, the Polish Private Equity & Venture Capital Association, highlighted the resilience and unique opportunities in her region. Gosia shared insights from her panel on mid-market private equity, emphasizing that while value creation through growth is a shared focus across Europe, Central Eastern Europe sees strong opportunities in traditional production companies expanding internationally. With 70-80% of sales coming from Western Europe, many portfolio companies are attractive for strategic buyers. She also noted emerging trends in technology and cross-border deals, benefiting from the region's cost advantages and skilled labor force. Reflecting on the event, Gosia praised the diversity of short panel sessions, calling them “thought-provoking” and a great way to explore multiple perspectives. #MarketsGroupPE Paloma Lima-Mayland Ana Sousa Doina Roibu Brandon Link Kirah Macleod Harriet Oakley Pratham Mehta Jane Bidwell Felix Baker James Garnett Jamie Home Oliver McVey Becky Christmas Courtney McQuade
