Helping the leader manage their emotions under pressure is crucial for maintaining stability. Encourage them to take a step back and assess the situation calmly, offering a clear perspective to help them regain focus. Suggest grounding techniques like deep breathing or short breaks to help manage stress. Reinforce the importance of leading by example, reminding them that the team's confidence often mirrors the leader's emotional state. Provide a safe space for them to express concerns, and collaborate on a clear action plan that addresses the crisis step by step. Encourage regular check-ins to ensure the leader feels supported, and remind them that seeking external guidance when needed can strengthen the overall response to the situation.

During a crisis, supporting your leader in managing their emotions is crucial. Encourage open communication, allowing them to express their thoughts and feelings. Actively listen and validate their concerns, showing empathy and understanding. Suggest they take short breaks to clear their mind and practice stress-relief techniques, such as deep breathing or mindfulness. Offer constructive feedback and focus on actionable solutions, keeping the conversation positive. Encourage team collaboration to share the emotional load, reinforcing that they're not alone in navigating the situation. Also bring to life some practical mind excersises which helps them change state inmediately and reinforcing the energy channeling to positive.

In order to deal with emotions, leaders must first be able to identify and accept the emotions. For instance, it's OK to feel frustrated with changes. Once they accept their emotions, they can then start dealing with them. To deal with our emotions at work, we must first understand the source of the emotion. For example, change is neither good, nor bad - it only becomes such when we're either excited about new opportunities that come with it or we are afraid that we're not going to be able to cope. Once we get to the root cause of emotion, it is then easier to break that "elephant" into "edible chunks" changing our negative perceptions around change and taking positive action at work.

In my experience, supporting a leader under pressure involves offering both calm reassurance and practical solutions. Staying composed yourself helps ground them, providing a sense of stability. Breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps can prevent them from feeling overwhelmed, and offering to take on responsibilities or suggesting delegation can ease their burden. It’s also important to gently remind them of the bigger picture, helping them refocus on key priorities rather than getting bogged down in details. Encouraging regular short breaks or helping them with task management is essential to avoid burnout. By providing steady, thoughtful support, you help leaders stay focused and effective during high-pressure situations.
