Today and tomorrow, we are proud to co-host with the Italian Coast Guard the European Coast Guard Functions Forum (ECGFF) Thematic Workshop on Maritime Traffic Monitoring and Surveillance Services for Multipurpose Activities. This important event brings together representatives of Coast Guard functions from EU Member States, the European Commission, our sister agencies EFCA and Frontex, and the current Italian ECGFF Chairmanship. In her opening remarks, Ms Maja Markovčić Kostelac, our Executive Director, emphasised how these thematic workshops align with EU policy priorities: “It is therefore with no surprise that for this year’s workshop we have a focus on security, and in particular critical maritime infrastructure, as well as the tools and services to enhance European coast guard surveillance capacities.” Together with Captain Giulio Piroddi Corpo delle Capitanerie di Porto - Guardia Costiera and Ms Fotini Ioannidou (European Commission – DG MOVE), she welcomed participants to two days of dialogue and knowledge-sharing. #ECGFF #EUCoastGuardCooperation #MaritimeSurveillance #EUMaritimeSecurity #EFCA #Frontex #EMSA #CriticalInfrastructure

2024 saw the Common Information Sharing Environment – CISE – enter the operational phase. CISE is a network that connects systems of European and EU/EEA Member State authorities with responsibility in maritime surveillance. It enables them to exchange relevant information across borders and different sectors in a seamless and automated way.
